JRPG thread

What JRPG are you currently playing?

For me, it's Dragon Quest III. I was hesitant to get into it but I'm so glad I did because I really love it so far. I'm playing the GBC port and the combat is so quick and punchy that I don't mind the occasional grinding session. The music is fantastic and I'm really impressed with how much depth the game has, much more than DQ1 or 2. I just got the King's Crown back and was proclaimed King of Romaly. I think I'll go check out that sleeping village to the north next.

None but I actually want to play. Was thinking about og ff7 since I never played but I dont have space in my phone. Could replay Chrono Trigger, but I'm open for any game that is similar and it contains a good story

Its a comfy game for sure. I have the Switch version myself, but if I had a choice, ironically, I would love to play GBC as well. something something nostalgia.

It's a good feeling, playing on original hardware.

thats so beautiful, here in my country is hard to find one of these

i was wondering about picking ffV for GBA (with box, manuals and everything), what do you guys think?

What's the best version of DQ3? I have 4's mobile and it plays fine plus there's nothing blocking the middle of the screen like the 3ds

i think the switch/mobile is the "better" versions but i dont know much about the first 3 ones.

How much does it cost?

really wanted a AJRPG
but they are so rare

I'm thinkin about buying the .hack\recode games, are they any good?

Started Ys IX today. I hate that everything is grey and dirty green, it looks like a western game.

Mobile port is fine, it looks like the other DQ ports.

55 dolars, with pretty good condition

It's a cursed prison town. What did you expect? I mean, look at Lea Monde in Vagrant Story. Similar deal.

I played the SNES version on an emulator and really enjoyed it, I'd say go for it

THEY'RE FUCKING EVERYWHERE. JUST PLAY TALES.

What I want is a honest to heart JRPG that's all strategy and builds with none of that cheap action shit.

>It's a cursed prison town. What did you expect?
Yeah, I get that, but it doesn't make aesthetics any better. But guess I'll get used to it soon enough. I just hope the exploration aspect is fun, I liked it the most about Dana.

FFVIII
Just rescued Rinoa on disc 3. Eyes on Me is the best vocal theme in the series.
They REALLY fucked his character model in the remaster. Glad I'm playing the original.

dragonquest 11. i'm a smashfag and only decided to give it a try because hero was added to smash.
turns out it's a very good game though, best jrpg i've played in forever.

FF7 with fan translation. Lots of stuff I completely forgot was in the game.
I both love and hate DQ3. It's fun to sail around and explore but if you don't know exactly where to go you can easily get lost and not really know where or what to do next.

i mean true action like the old .hack games.

SNES has more colors and pixels but GBC version has all the SOUL.

Continuing with the second King's Field after having beaten the first game. While I'm enjoying it, I'm seeing it has the same downward difficulty curve as the previous one. At the beginning it's incredibly easy to die but at this point for me when I unlocked the gold fountain and found some loot it pretty much seems impossible. I even stopped playing cautiously as I did at the beginning because I know I can so easily heal and replenish mana. Still it's all kept up by the great atmospher and exploration. I'm constantly suprised at how inter-connected the world is.

You will be missed, old man whom I've only known for 5 minutes...

Nice, that's what got me into Dragon Quest too. How far are you?

Dragon Quest is pure comfy. It's as traditional JRPG as you can get but in such a wonderful way. It really is a SNES JRPG with enhanced graphics unlike every JRPG post PS2.

Just beat Secret Of Mana while waiting for the Trial of Mana full release. Man that was so short and easy. Now im browsing this thread looking for games.

I'm catching up with a bunch of RPGs.
I'm finishing up CF route in FETH. I already did VW and I don't care enough about Dmitri or Rhea to do those routes. Especially since people say SS is just VW with white borders.
I'm a few chapters into Disgea 5. I like it but it seems the main character is OP? I just toss him in to a group of enemies and he counterkills everything. I like a lot of the generic units, very cute overall.
and I've got World of Final Fantasy Maxima in waiting as well. I'm a sucker for Chibis.
I've dropped Labyrinth of Refrain for the time being as well as Ring Fit Adventure.

What's inherently wrong with a dark, gritty aesthetic?

I just beat krystalinda

DQ11 is nice and all but i just wish the artstyle and graphics wasnt just so cringe, i mean it pratically SCREAMS reddit.

Code vein. It counts.

Nothing. I just find it really boring.

Whats wrong with the artstyle? I think its pretty charming.

I played Code Vein a few months ago. Not terrible, but not fantastic.

How long and on which console?

i mean when i saw it i just could imagine the hero super transformation being nonameheroBLANCO

Why is Romancing Saga 3 so expensive? Why are the DQ and FF ports for mobile so expensive too?
WHY WHY

I thought people were exaggerating when they said anime darksouls with FULLY MODELED

>hating on Toriyama

Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'm on Chapter 5 and working on basic missions and Affinity missions. Enjoying it so far When do I get a Skell? It seems a lot of places to put probes are beyond reaching by foot.
I have this game too as well as Shadow Tower. I'm impressed with your tenacity. Both games filtered me pretty hard in the first 15 minutes. Maybe I should give it another shot as I really like exploring dungeons in games.

why do you have to bring your reddit obsession here too? No one likes reddit but not everything you don’t like is reddit

Tales series
Star ocean series
Ys series
These are all AJRPG
There's more if you bother to look.

Square Enix tax

FF mobile are shit but DQ are ok

Skies of Arcadia HD fucking when? How hasn't it happened yet

Don't listen to zoomer retards when it comes to DQ. Snes version 100%

is that the remaster model on the right? It looks way better, the left looks like someone caved his head in
