Also, why is it ridiculous to assume the old locales from the original are coming back and that story progression will follow suit. Yeah, there will be a lot of different shit, but the core will remain.

They have most of the assets created, now. The resy of the areas, save for Junon and perhaps Wutai, are relatively small and undetailed compared to Midgar. This is even so in the original.

They now have a set vision for what they want the game to be, they have the assets, now they just need new bosses, (some of which could be happily reused/expanded upon, rufus for example), a competent open world, and expanding of the major places along the way (junon, nibelheim, rocket town, wutai being the main ones)

I fully expect to hear an announcement within the next year, and a release in late 2021 or 2022, It won't take another 5 years.

Yeah, I think Gold Saucer and Junon wouldn't be until maybe third game

4th-5th would be temple stuff and snowlands. I really don't see this being wrapped up in 3 games, if they are still following the same basic flow. Even if the story is diverging from the original, I think there is some key shit you have to include from the original, or it just wouldn't feel right.

8 and 10 are the only choices.

That is not a remake. That's a remaster with worse visuals than the original.
And yes PS1 FF are peak FF visually and I'd love to see FF6 made in that style. Pre-rendered backgrounds, 3D character models and random battles.

I agree with the sentiment that the rest of the areas visited should be large and explorable at least by 3-4 at a time. It would be fucking stupid if they made Midgar massive, but then just let you zip fucking zoom though every other location. Even if they are smaller than Midgar, knocking out ten in one game would piss me off.

8 will probably be remade. 9 maybe. Nothing else really stands a chance in this life time.

Is that Mana remake thing out yet? I lost track of what they were doing. Didn't they re-release the 3 secret of mana games with one being a remaster?

Comes out in a couple weeks. They released an official translation of it for the first time in that Mana Collection, but the remake is basically a mid-budget budget action RPG.
There's a demo out, it's on the easy side but it's just the early game so who knows.
