One of the things I love about this game is that they wrote various different viable reasons by which you can argue your way through your opponent's motivations.

With Lanius, you can tell him that he's spreading the Legion too thin, but you can also tell him that the NCR is too weak and that the Legion's victory will be a hollow one. This appeals to his proud nature and encourages him to return to Legion territory, cull his army's numbers and then return at a later date at a purposeful disadvantage.

How many different arguments are there against Ulysses? It feels like there were around 3 or 4 different things you were able to say to him, most of which were rather esoteric and very impressive from a writing perspective.

To this day I'm still connecting all of the different ways in which the ideas that were explored in the game and how the theme of "begin again" finds itself resurging throughout all of the DLCs. Avellone is a genius.

Neither does the legate, Caesar or ANY of the legion apparently

Kino writing

Would've been good had the speech option not be colorized/specially indicated

My favorite argument with Ulysses is when you appeal to your common brotherhood in both being couriers
> If we cannot prevent what comes, then let us make our stand here. Two Couriers, together, at the Divide.

Cringe

The quote sounds better hearing it from Ulysses than in just reading text

No, everything surrounding Ulysses is just cringe

Pseudo-intellectual nonsense

He comes from a tribal background where speaking in such a manner is common.

>Tell Gwinnett to continue the good fight

Doesn’t excuse his reddit tier dialogue

I adore New Vegas and it will always be my favorite, but this is a fair point. Exceedingly poor dialogue aside, is Fallout 3 actually as inferior to the classic games as the people here proclaim? Seemingly contrary to the popular circlejerk, most of the game’s quests have a decent amount of alternative outcomes and provide a notable amount of player agency.

The only true flaws I can see is that it’s far too easy to max out most of your stats and that the game allows you to obtain much too many perks (one per level), thus allowing you to become grossly overpowered by the end-game.

Perhaps the issue here is not that this game is given too little acclaim, but rather that the classic games are given far too much.

Unfortunately I can't excuse buzzword tier dialogue.

should be [Int: 1] [Speech:100]

>the dialogue is meta as fuck therefore I'm free to take the most uncharitable interpretation possible
that's RPG for you, son

[luck 10]You are having a brain aneurysms

That's like saying the end scenes in DivinityOriginalSin 2 are good because it shows what happens to places you visited in the game.
