reddit and Yas Forums BTFO once again

it isnt the worst game ive ever bought thats for sure. i put a few hours into it today just to see for myself and it isnt nearly as awful in this current state as the world would have you believe. aside from the always online, this is a better game than fallout 4, maybe even fallout 3

As it should be.

not that it's hard to beat, but this game is now unironically better than fallout 4.

writing has always been good since day 1 though- thank god they got rid of emil faguilaro or whatever his name is. he was responsible for fallour 4's writing sucking dog dick

This game was in the bargain bin for 5 bucks. Why would you pay full price.

>buying physical
jesus christ

What's the point of that subscription? It's super steep to ask for a pay to play and then additional monthly fee.

dude its just a download code

>owners of fallout 76 on bethesda's store get it for free
>bethesda could make as many keys for themselves as they wanted before launch

No way Todd

I hate to say it, but I've been playing it and it's... fun

Running into random npcs with quests and choices feels good, it's what the game needed, also it actually managed to launch without problems

It’s not the same game it was when it launched. I wouldn’t say it’s a good game exactly, but if you want to play Fallout 4 but online then it does the job.

and here we have people contributing to making the gaming industry worse, you'd think they have learned there lesson during the 2010's. some people never learn

I heard it was good but it's a "too little too late" situation.

Still 5 more bucks than I would pay for 76

People did warm up to No Man's Sky eventually.
Would this be a similar case or is it still far from redeemed?

>No Man's Sky
I think that game was a special case where the interviews with Sean Murray just got the guy so riled up and nervous that he slippery sloped into making the whole thing a dissapointment on release. They clearly put in the hours after that though and I'm really happy for them getting the recognition they deserve.

Bethesda are irredeemably bad, such a giant in the industry releasing a broken mess every other year? It's astonishing how incompetent they are, almost like they do it on purpose
How can so many (presumably) intelligent people get everything so wrong? Is it just a pressure to perform and appear as though they still set a standard for video games? It feels more and more like they just do games that they think will sell, rather than something they want to make even if it'll not allow for 25 special editions down the line

I am so glad I got to try it during the free weekend last year, just so I could check myself if it really was that bad. And it really was.
If you love how most MMORPGs play and feel like (an example, Elder Scrolls Online), with their choppy gameplay and a world that feels fake, FO76 is totally right for you.

NMS was still a scam.
The stickers on the cases to cover up the multiplayer label proves that.
Sean was lead by interviewers into saying some things he shouldn't have, but he could have corrected things sooner (he sent out a slightly ambiguous tweet shortly before release stating not to "expect" multiplayer but still "the universe is so large") and he still ignored a lot of the outcry (e.g when people found each other he said it was amazing and ignored they couldn't see each other or interact).

The patches they've done since are all welcome additions.
Any dev supporting their product longterm and for free has my approval for doing so.
But that will never retroactively make how they handled launch "okay".

>But that will never retroactively make how they handled launch "okay"
Definitely, though I almost prefer these shit launch to mostly decent game redemption arcs, rare as they are

He was also under Sonys heels at the time, who would not have been happy at all about him trying to walk back the built up hype.

Actions speak louder then words and if nothing else I have to respect him for buckling down and actually adding most of the missing features to the game. Not a lot of devs would do that especially after such a bungled launch.

Honestly Wastelanders added a lot more then I was expecting.

Granted that's not saying much, but if they dropped the whole always on multiplayer world they could have actually made a half decent game out of it.

>He was also under Sonys heels at the time, who would not have been happy at all about him trying to walk back the built up hype.
I get it but simulatenously lots of developers work with Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft without having to misrepresent the product in the name of hype.
Lots of indies, with staff that have no public speaking experience, are able to hold their own and just show the game.
Sony wouldn't have pulled funding if Sean said "well we don't have multiplayer for launch but we plan to add it as a free update".

apologize

It's what they get for having a dev do the interviews instead of an actual PR guy, he physically couldn't say 'no' to any of the questions

they're definitely going in the right direction with wastelanders but god damn is it still a buggy mess. bethesda heavily relies on the community to fix their games
>get anti-scorch gun during quest that'll be useful in this scorch den
>hits aren't registering so i have to use a pipe pistol the whole time
>talk to npc while in power armor
>character jumps out of the power armor and dialogue options disappear
>can't move camera or character so i had to hop into another server to fix it

s-sorry, Todd..
