it actually can do 8 bounces for rays so it's proper path tracing, however the catch is that it accumulates bounces calculated from previous frames, it means that if you're in a dark room and open a door to the outside, it takes like 8 frames for the light to properly bounce in, though from videos I've seen it looks like it can take even longer, kind of fades from dark to light

That wasn't always the case. I got bedrock from my java version somehow. Maybe it's because I bought early, maybe it's because I updated to Win 10 early, no idea.

I bought a brand new build with a 1660 Super. Pretty sure it can't run ray tracing but I honestly don't know what ray tracing even does.

ray tracing just simulates how light rays bounce around when they hit surfaces, think of a huge number of light rays coming out of your ceiling light and you can imagine it hits a bunch of stuff and bounces around resulting in what you see as the light ends up in your eye
The marketing on this shit is something else, modded minecraft runs with raytracing mods just fine on 1000 series cards, but they really want to pretend the 2000 series is a giant leap forward

why don't they combine VXGI with RTX? basically have your triple a 3D game but the illumination is done on a voxel version like how minecraft RTX looks like and then this is combined with the proper geometry
