What is wrong with admitting games generally used to be better and more innovative in the past? This isn't to say all new games are bad or older games were perfect nor is it to say this decline is perpetual and there hasn't been periods of great games in the past few years, but I fail to see how anyone could disagree.

The issue I'm seeing is that everyone pulls up a handful of games from "the good old days" just like there's only a handful of good games now.
If you REALLY look and see what games are good and what games are bad, I'm sure each year's net quality would remain roughly the same over time.

There is a big difference between "good" and "great", most games, even underwhelming and mediocre games can be considered 'good', I don't think you can compare the huge amount of great and innovative games from 94, 98, 99, etc, to 2012, 13, 14, etc.

Games older than 5 years are all unplayable trash, no exception.
