Why was he kidnapping people, killing them, and replacing them with synths?

it was just retard science
>tfw too smart for planning

You're too stupid to understand.

because he based

epic science

He was kidnapping people for human FEV testing, while simultaneously seeing how well his synths could integrate into the outside world. Two birds with one stone

so... epic science

He needed the humans to make the parts for his synths. He did it so he could control the world by having controllable people.

dunno lol isnt that so morally grey? bravo emil

So wrong wtf

Because it's Old World Blues but without the dark humor and nuance of the dangers of science for its own sake, unbound by morals.

Just having a laugh.

Because Bethesda's writing staff is braindead

Someone at bethesda watched blade runner and tried to copy/paste it into a post-apocalyptic world because they are too shit to actually write interesting post-apocalyptic societies and stories.

they didn't have anything to eat in those ruins so they started abducting people and replacing them so no one got wise, boy did that backfire

Because you need a bad guy who does bad things.
It's a fucking game you autistic retard. Making this thread daily outs you a shill, most likely of the obsidian variety.

>Outsmarted by baby-tier Bethesda writing

Here is the actual answer.
He abducted people and turned them into beings that not only have the capability of being human, but also the ability to survive the roughest climates on a nuclear world. Should humans decide to further euin the earth, atleast synths would be able to survive.

more importantly why did he wake you up if he fully expected you to get killed immediately

So why did they use synths at all?
Why didn't they just repair/modify every robot they could get their hands on?
>Spies
They already have synth pigeons.
>Combat
A sentry is worth 10+ synths in terms of durability, and they're armed with Gatling lasers and rocket launchers.
>Slave labor
Mr. Handies/Any random wastenigger.

>I’m going to prevent the extinction of humanity by... killing all humans
Genius

It's too complicated for you to understand.
Also you're the new boss, but you aren't allowed to change anything.

thats fucking stupid, they didnt turn humans into synths they just killed the real humans

Then why was he killing the abductees instead of inducting them into his pristine underground paradise?
Why was the institute fucking with FEV and creating super mutants?
Why did Father constantly refer to synths as Institute property instead of acknowledging their autonomy and allowing them to live freely?

Attached: 453456346547.jpg (165x200, 9.34K)

He didn't even know, and if he did he never really explained it even to the Institute members. When you join them, you'll hear many people expressing doubt/confusion about the entire Gen-3 Synth program, citing that the current Gen-2s already fulfill all necessary roles of a Synth without having the same problems/errors of self-determination.

At one point, Father meets you on the roof of the old CIT ruins and admits that this is the first time he's ever actually seen the surface. He despairs at how destroyed everything is, and concludes that humanity's only future is to live underground for as long as possible until the planet heals. The Synths would essentially serve as caretakers and manual labor for what will almost certainly be an increasingly dwindling population of "real" human scientists.

Father was also just insane. He makes a child synth version of himself that will never age, and gives it to you as if that's a good gift or something instead of an abhorrence. This is the key point, that he was just a crazy person. The only place he had to go, and his entire life, was wrapped up in doing Institute shit even if it doesn't make any sense, because doing Institute shit is all he has.

The most merciful thing you can do for him is shoot him in the back of the head during your first meeting and run out of the Institute.

Why even abduct them and replace them at all?
Why make them look like humans?
You can create synths completely separate from all that.

He viewed Synths as the next step in humanity. Hence the motto "Mankind Redefined". To him, Synths taking over for biological humans was just an evolution of the species and not its extinction.
Because he was a crazy person.

The institute killed the people they replaced, Synths can only be produced by the machines we see in game, and lastly, the Institute don't see synths as anything more than machines doing what they're programmed to do. They're not meant to be a wholesale replacement of humanity, they're just humanoid robots that double as ... spies for some reason.

Synths would be better equipped to survive the nuclear climate. I don't get why that's so hard for you to believe.

Did you play the game?
They replicated their personalities, essentially turning them into synths.

>Killing abductees
To hide his trails in case some dumb human would object
>Synth as property
Why the fuck not?
>Why not let them live freely?
Imagine you're a big secret science man launchin an operation on this scale
You'd be a control freak, too
Control them so noone finds out what he's doing
Then world explodes and there are almost only self sustaining synths left
Now this is proper, actual criticism that I will accept as valid
Perhaps Father saw humans as the beings that should always rule the earth, so he wished for the successors to atleast resemble them
Spies used to find out if anyone is finding out about the institute
You don't know if the institue has the scientific knowledge to recreate human anatomy wothout using existing bodyparts
Imagine seeing your doppelganger out of nothing
Even if the lore is that they can recreate existing faces without even touching the human being recreated...
You'd freak the fuck out and wonder why there are two of you and demand the shutdown of the entire operation immediately

>Synths would be better equipped to survive the nuclear climate.
They can't reproduce
That's the point
your replacement for humanity can only be born from a complicated 3D-printing machine powered by finite (and eventually gone) energy sources
that's not a very good replacement
they can't have fucking babies

>Why was he kidnapping people, killing them, and replacing them with synths?
to infiltrate, subvert and/or co-op other centralisations of power and to run experiments on the surface

That's a debate which governs AI logic. I won't get into that, but if you're denying AI has the ability to self sustain through efficiency, you're very naive.

What did they gain exactly from doing that?

lol he looks like rick and morty

DUDE

SYNTHETIC GORILLAS

LMAO

>he abducted people and turned them into beings

And we were outsmarted? Synths kill and replace their copies, the copies aren't turned into anything.

>capable of producing robots so advanced they can pass for humans over a long period of time, even if wounded or confronted with evidence that would challenge their mental functions
>does this to help humanity
>ehhhh
>just murder people and take their place
>also use the synths are slave labor because lol robots are dumb
>but not so dumb they don't keep escaping so make double-plus spy synths to track and kill them
>boss what if we just used synths to help humanity rebuild from our literally inaccessible perfect radiation-free paradise
>BUT I WANT TO MURDER PEOPLE AT RANDOM, THIS IS SO SOMEBODY CAN INHERIT THE EARTH WHEN THOSE DUMB DUMBS RUIN IT AGAIN ALSO CAN WE TRY FEV OURSELVES, INSIDE OUR ONLY SAFE PLACE IN THE WASTELAND? GOD! DON'T ANY OF YOU LIKE LE EBIN SCIENCE?

Imagine being dumb enough to defend baby-tier Bethesda writing.

power. the Minutemen can't rival the Institute because they been sabotaged by the Institute. They replaced McDonough with a synth so now they've co-opted Diamond city. They have Danse in the BoS. They have Roger Warwick carrying out biological experiments. Their attacks on the Railroad were so effective that they are non-issue.

>haha look mommy I'm shitposting

Attached: 1576839271152.png (600x655, 217.56K)

>join Institute
>final battle against Brotherhood of Steel where we sabotage liberty prime
>use synth grenades to swarm the place
>Brotherhood knights fighting back
>finally Elder Maxson himself joins the battle
>at the very same time, the synth gorillas get relayed in to the battlefield
>watch from the roof while Maxson tries desperately but is cornered and then overwhelmed by synthetic gorillas, his armor ripped off piece by piece until he is killed
that was the funniest shit
image what he was thinking in those moments

Could you please attack my actual argument instead?
I never said he wanted to help humanity. I said he wanted humanity to be succeeded by human-like robots.

Thanks for replying, I guess.

>Minutemen
But didn't they disband because of the Quincy fiasco? I don't remember the institute being responsible.
>McDonut
He only got rid of ghouls, because uhhhhh
>Danse
Wasn't he in the BoS because of the Railroad? If he was there thanks to the Institute, wouldn't they say: "Hey boss btw here's some info from our agent Danse".

>create totally not human robot slaves
>they keep gaining awareness and don't want to be robot slaves
>the solution to robot slaves going against their programming is to create more robot slaves to hunt down the previous robot slaves, but make them better
>and these slaves dont have any programming issues to worry about
