I don't even really care about the remake. I don't have a PS4 and I'll just replay the original whenever I feel like it.

But it's hilarious that they blew their load with Sephiroth and now all of these moments leading up to his reveal and encounter are fucked. Interest in this episodic remake/sequel is going to drop off at such a steep decline, when they could have a money-printing machine that would last them the next decade if they planned it right. Oh well.

At this point Squeenix has realized they don't have to try and their fans will no matter what 100% buy and defend their games.

I'm indifferent about FFVII in general, but this scene and the Midgar Zolom fight are solid. I'm really looking forward to seeing them in the remake. Snake bosses make me rock hard.

Is that in fact the case? After Square's bankruptcy, FFVII remake was an always-assumed inevitability - their "get out of jail free card". The fact that they're squandering it in this fashion just seems like a gross act of hubris. I can't pretend to have a firm grasp of their audience or their current status as a company, but it's no secret that they have long development times with little payoff on a regular basis. Now they've tied themselves into at least two more games, possibly spanning multiple platform generations. Seems like it could bite them in the ass.

This scene is sorely underrated and had the greatest emotional impact on me of any of the game's twists. I've already given up on it being in the remake at all now

fire+elemental on the e. skill havers armor and you should be good. That's the thing about the Materia system is it's insanely deep and insanely fun but all the tricks are well documented so people don't realize how intricate it is.
