>spends all the game looking for a black materia to summon a meteor to blow up one planet
>but can destroy entire solar systems by blowing up the goddamn sun with something from outside the galaxy
how do people defend this?
Spends all the game looking for a black materia to summon a meteor to blow up one planet
>How do people defend this
Because he pretty
hey shut up, old good new bad
>thinking Supernova is actually like that and not just for cool gameplay cinematic purposes
Supernova is not real, it's a psychological attack.
Hence why it does % based damage and a bunch of status effects.
>yeah bro gameplay and story are entirely separate lol why would they be consistent haha
supernova is actually like that, canonically.
A meteor doesn't blow up a planet, if you actually knew what the fuck was happening you would know he had taken on Jenovas instinct of essentially clearing planets of life and travelling the cosmos with the planet (After accepting that was where he was from, that became apart of his goal). The meteor had two purposes:
1. Destroy the planet enough so that every other living thing dies and he can accomplish Jenovas goal of riding the planet through the cosmos
2. Create a large enough wound in the planet that it would be easier to absorb the lifestream for more power
No shit. I guess you think people getting bit by zombies in RE gameplay means they're infected in the story too huh?
The attack is an illusion you tard. Just like the heavenly background and whatnot during the fight
in cutscenes yeah?
Gameplay/story segregation. The entire final battle in the Remake takes place in a consequence-free pocket dimension where they throw skyscrapers at each other. No getting around it
the player having some sort of plot armor is different from in-world characters acting being contradictory in gameplay and story, retard.
>supernova is actually like that, canonically.
sounds like a post-release bandaid.
Squeenix beat Capcom to it, huh?
>A meteor doesn't blow up a planet
If its big enough and traveling fast enough, yes it can. Planets are not indestructible.
> if you actually knew what the fuck was happening you would know he had taken on Jenovas instinct of essentially clearing planets of life and travelling the cosmos with the planet (After accepting that was where he was from, that became apart of his goal).
Technically correct. There is no confirmation he actually wanted to use the planet to travel and complete Jenova's goal, only that he wound the planet so bad that he could absorb the lifestream and become a God himself, though you can argue he did want to finish what Jenova started, as he does mention it at least once, but its mostly in reference to Gaia itself.
>1. Destroy the planet enough so that every other living thing dies and he can accomplish Jenovas goal of riding the planet through the cosmos
Half correct.
>2. Create a large enough wound in the planet that it would be easier to absorb the lifestream for more power
Correct.
With that said back on the meteor subject, a meteor that size would destroy Earth entirely, granted Gaia is not Earth and Earth does not have a lifestream. Also remember that the lifestream doesn't need the planet to survive as demonstrated at the Planetarium by Bugenhagen.
>sounds like a post-release bandaid.
what's a post-release bandaid? This is all information in the original release.
>the player having some sort of plot armor is different from in-world characters acting being contradictory in gameplay and story, retard.
So I guess Tifa should be able to turn Sephiroth into a Toad right?
where in the original final fantasy 7 is it stated that supernova is an illusion?
...what? of course not
you realize you're agreeing with me, right?
Because he doesn't want to blow up the planet retard.
He wants to the wound the planet so badly so when the planet attempts to heal the wound with the lifestream he'll absorb the energy himself and achieve godhood.
what does godhood even mean in ff7? there's no gods. what a stupid goal.
The fact that it causes %-based damage and inflicts Confusion.
where is it stated those come from illusions? the player has access to confusion attacks that arent illusions lol
No gods YET
He would just gain an insane amount of magic power probably.
High tier magic like Holy takes a lot of power to activate, a lifestream-infused Sephiroth would be able to use powerful magic casually. Would probably make it easier to take over other planets.
why does he want to take over other planets though?
If Supernova weren't an illusion then how could Sephiroth destroy the same planets and areas multiple times?
There is a reason it does status effects and magical/gravity damage rather than physical damage. It's a gravitational illusion using attraction based forces. Also the Sun is too small to go Supernova. And the attack is in multiple games as just a neat final boss move and it does different things for Sephiroth in every game. Its just a visual illusion attack involving gravity.
Because it's in his nature, it's like asking why humans need to breathe and eat.
Minerva, Jenova, and Leviathan (though you can debate this one since it is a Summon).
>If its big enough and traveling fast enough, yes it can. Planets are not indestructible.
I meant in relation to a supernova. Most meteors will crater planets and at worst shatter a planet which gravity pulls back into a new planet. His main goal was cratering\shattering not vaporising (Which a supernova would 100% do).
>though you can argue he did want to finish what Jenova started, as he does mention it at least once, but its mostly in reference to Gaia itself.
No he means as a whole, he takes it on as a sense of continuing mothers work (Which includes travelling the cosmos). It's also confirmed directly in AC.
>Half correct.
No it's full correct.
>With that said back on the meteor subject, a meteor that size would destroy Earth entirely, granted Gaia is not Earth and Earth does not have a lifestream. Also remember that the lifestream doesn't need the planet to survive as demonstrated at the Planetarium by Bugenhagen.
No, it wouldn't. At most it would shatter significant portion of it combining their vectors and creating a large debri cloud in the new orbit that would eventually create a new slightly larger planet (If Sephiroth didn't start riding it through the cosmos first).
To help his mommy.
i hate to ever side with the dickheads over at Death Battle but its like an illusion/dimension thing
Who did it better?
>And the attack is in multiple games as just a neat final boss move and it does different things for Sephiroth in every game. Its just a visual illusion attack involving gravity.
In Dissidia it's not a gravity attack, it's a pure damage move.
sounds like a shallow boring villain desu
