So if I wanted to play the original Final Fantasy 7 on PC, what would be the best way to do it? I've heard that FF PC ports have been shockingly incompetent so I'm wondering if there's a solid version for 7 somewhere of if I shoud bust out my "legitimate PS1" and "Borrow the original disks from a friend" and if there are any problems others have had with "borrowing a legit copy of FF7 from their friends"

PC version and search for mods
i remember when we had to put up with shitty translations like these
psx emulator
Use Medafen OP. There are some "upgraded" models that you can patch into the game but imo look like trash.
Download 7th Heaven
Steam version.
Remako mod.
Ninostyle mod.
And for replay - New Threat mod.
Steam version then look up seventh heaven 2.0 mods. Hd ff7 with new character models is practically a new game. Although good models are hard to find. Try to find the Final Mix character models. Those are the best since they use dissidia and crisis core models.
What's shitty about it? The word retard?
Retroarch using the mednafen core. It's the most accurate psx emulator out there.
I torrented the steam version and then watched a tutorial to install remako
Just play the PS1 version with a high acc emulator like mednafen.
either of these
there's an ISO patch for PSX from a few years back if you want something better
There's a mod manager called 7th heaven that does pretty much all of it for you. I'm actually using it right now to try and get some stuff set up because someone posted pics of this mod earlier today and I wanna try it out.
The steam version and the remako mod is fine.
Make sure you get the Ninostyle models.
Why the fuck are you people seriously recommending emulating? It's not 1998, you have no excuse not to play the modern PC version.
Do NOT do the PC ports with mods. The game has an extra layer of jank added on top of it that the PS1 version doesn't have. Just use your "legitimate PS1", preferably at native res so that the pixels of the models and backgrounds blend together to create a more cohesive image. One of the problems with all the new ports is that you have crisp polygons on top of low res backgrounds. HD Remako mod remedies this somewhat but it can look pretty ugly sometimes and nothing can fix the jankiness of the PC port of FF7.
Because most people don't want to tinker around with mods trying to fix a broken port of a game, they want something that just works. Also you can easily find the iso for free.
because that's not what she says in the japanese version, and it's just one of many examples
not him but steam version has over 90% positive reviews how is it broken?
Does anyone have any experience with the mods that change gameplay? I was looking at what's available and there are a few complete overhaul mods that look interesting, but I don't wanna risk downloading something that makes everything a complete slog to play through.
>Ninostyle mod
Holy shit this looks weird
OP here, I don't care how crusty and decrepit the OG game looks,I just want to be able to play it without a low quality port fucking my ass and stabbing me in the back. Which mods fix mechanical problems, that's all I'm interested in. If nothing can fix the shitty port job I might as well bust out he PS1.
>New Threat mod
I was just looking at that one. Still on the fence about giving it a shot since it's technically not my first playthrough but I haven't touched the game in years.
How bad is the PC port if < 20% of people beat the first disk of the game?
seeing as it's funny, i really couldn't care less what it says in jap
SOULful translation
am I speaking the Yas Forumslingo right?
yes we love based niggerspeak here desu senpai
Isn't this normal? It's an old as fuck game. Half the people that own it probably don't even remember buying it because it was in a bundle or something. They just had to have THE FF7 that everyone talks about.
The Steam reviews on the other hand, are solid for the people who actually played it.
some achievements aren't tracked if you add certain mods or launchers so this isn't accurate
yeah, im playing for the first time and im not gonna touch New Threat because i want to have a more ''pure'' experience, but im still using remako
fair enough then
Imagine not knowing how to play a playstation game and having to ask for help.
That was my original plan too, but I always end up getting carried away when it comes to modding games.
You want the game as the devs intended it? Emulate the PS1 original, wonky translation and all. The character's pixelated resolutions fit the backgrounds better that way. You don't give a shit what you play so long as you play the game? PC and Switch versions are your best bets, Switch because it got additional patches and PC because you can download 7th Heaven and mod it pretty much out of the box.
get it on switch so you can play in bed :)
How was he acting like a retard?
>massive buff aerith
ahahahaakekeke
its so bad and there were already acceptable body mods out there
I cant access the steam version because square enix won't verify my email. what should i do?
Pirate?
How does using an emulator work with the Original being 3 discs?
i tried using 7th heaven with a pirated version, but it doesn't support pirated copies. Any way around it?
How new are you to emulation user?

How is this mod, Yas Forums?
I'm interested in playing a better translated version, and the better music and framerates are interesting as well, but I don't like mods that touch gameplay aspects.
