Is switch drift a meme or not?

I had to fix drift and I barely have time to even use it. Ultimate chink design

My right stick drifts a little bit.

I haven't experienced it, and I've had the same joycons since launch year.
But it seems to be pretty common so I'm just lucky I guess.

It's not a meme. Both my brothers have Switches and they both drift pretty badly.

It’s real. Mine has it, but it doesn’t kill me too much. I’m mostly playing RPGs and 2D platformers on my Switch, so it it more doable than it I played a lot of 3D movement games where the drifting would hit a lot worse

it's real, and the worst part is ninty asks 80 bucks for those shit tier joycons. Joycons may be the worst build quality of anything they've ever produced.

I have 2 pairs of joycons and my second left stick drifted after about a year so I got a pro controller, which is honestly so good I use it for my PC as well

I'm not excusing faulty hardware but holy fuck all you need is isopropyl or a contact cleaner, you don't even need to open the controller up

Yes. Joy drift is a real thing. Though I myself fixed my joy drift by getting a cue tip, dipping it in rubbing alcohol, then swabbing under that plastic piece under the joy con itself. Found a piece of whatever in there. Works pretty good now.
That worked for me though. Sometimes it actually fucks up internally. Which I ain't familiar with but it's reported to happen.

It's not a meme, but it's yet to happen to either of my Switches, one of which was bought launch day. I also have a set of joycons bought alongside the launch Switch that are fine. Curiously, my younger brother, who treats everything he owns like shit, has had four (4) separate sets drift in both sides.

No, I've experienced it twice already. You can increase your chances of avoiding as long as your controller doesn't meet gravity but it's not guaranteed.

Except you are excusing it. These things are going to be used a lot. You shouldn't need to fix it in a normal system lifetime.

If all of the systems/controllers ever present in my life up to an including as old as the Intellivision totaling a good 140K hours of play between me my mother, and my brother there's no excuse for the Joycon crapping out in just a couple thousand.
