As a longtime NEET who only recently started fucking after 30, let me tell you that sex is amazing, girls bodies are wonderful and hearing a beautiful girl call out your name while you're pinning her to a bed is actually great but it's not really that life changing and videogames are probably better. If I had to give up one of the two it'd be the sex.

Honestly the biggest change is just that I don't feel as looked down on by society, the actual sex is very nice but if you don't put a lot of stock in other people's opinions it's probably not that big a deal.

I pretty much only play FFXIV casually to keep in touch with the lads from FFXI. We would all bleed for each other. Playing a game together where you couldn't do jack shit without help + lots of downtime to chat built really strong bonds.

Miserable.
I don't want any part of normal society. Games take the edge off for me. If I wasn't playing games, I'd just spend the time laying around on my laptop shitposting and reading.

How can anyone be satisfied with life in this modern age? It's so sterile.

Is it worth getting into now? I only played a little back in the day and never made any friends so I ended up quitting but my best friend is super into the game and constantly trying to convince me to play with him now. Should I just go for it or is it too late?

check and see when they're doing a free week. they usually do them alot with 11. the game is a heavy time investment probably less so than when i stopped playing tho.

I'd waste it listening to music, or shitposting, or doing something else. Video games are an effect, not a cause, my dependence on gaming is the result of my life being a failure.

You missed the boat by like a decade. I hear private servers might be good but the official product is a flickering shadow of what it was--not because of the playerbase, because the condensed servers actually probably have about the same number of people playing on a given server, but because of how the mechanics have changed. The very bold choices that made the game special are gone.

Storyline might be worth stomping through I guess but you're gonna need to find a cap-level daddy to PL you high enough to solo it
