>comfy
stop using that redditword

friends of mineral town is comfier. AWL has a weird melancholic vibe which is fine but makes it less comfy

Fomt and AWL are the two best farming sim games ever made

a slightly melancholic tone underneath helps with it's comfiness

This game blows. It's an empty game.

Harvest Moon Magical Melody

I literally can not wait until Story of Season Friends of Mineral Town comes out. It's my most hyped game of the year.

AWL is a bit melancholy, mostly because depending on which version you play, you actually die at the end and your son takes over. I would like to play that one if only it played well.

based

A wonderful life is the one with fewer waifus, right? The one that forces you to water crops twice a day for optimal growth? The one with fewer festivals? The one that is actually boring as fuck, as almost nothing happens?

Nah, my guy. Nah.
Magical Melody is the comfiest of them all.

What even makes a game comfy? I cant find any defining trait in "comfy" games besides a a weird sense of nostalgia and ease of play.

if magical melody played at 1.5 it's speed I would agree with you

I had both as a kid and Magical Melody had way more shit going on. Deciding what plots of land to buy and where to put buildings was great too. They really fucked up with the unending shitty music, though. This was probably an issue with a lot of Harvest Moon games, but Magical Melody was the first one where I realized how to make tons of cash without growing any crops.
I kind of want to play it again now, but I'm worried it'll just be a big disappointment.

>I kind of want to play it again now, but I'm worried it'll just be a big disappointment.
The game is exactly as you remember it: a huge time sink without end. Used to fill the void of real accomplishments in your life.

Harvest moon games always have a creepy feeling to them for me and i seriously dont know why but its the reason i cant play them comfortably mostly awl, the newer ones dont bother me as much cause i think they lost soul

I think I'll leave it be then.
The misused time was less of an issue before.

rune factory 4 is better than all of them

>Otaku pandering and anime
>Comfy
Choose one.

Picked this up recently and honestly it's not as good as I remember. Specifically it's the slowest in the series with the least to do. Harvest Moon DS a best (even if it's buggy as shit)

>Story of Seasons has Gay Marriage now

I am going to make Grey my husband

Im on my first year pf rune factory 4 apparently i cannot marry that sexy detective girl, almost every day i give forte fried eggs or omelet and every week i give dolce apple pie

I’ve seen a few events with forte so im not surprised she is at frienship level 6 dolce is close at level 5 but im really surprised i haven’t done anything special for clorica except giving her a shitty birthday present and she is already at level 5, now my headcanon is that she has a crush on mc but she can’t do much to stop dolce and forte because she is sleepy

A short hike

This
There aren't even any festivals and only 3 bachelorettes.

post wives
for me, it's always the witch

>No Reason To Do Anything: The Game
>you get married automatically
>you have a child automatically
>nothing to spend money on, making farming/ranching pointless.
This game bored to hell out of me

>try to marry the girl living in the mines
>game often corrupts saves while save scumming to get to the right floor
>eventually forget to backup the save properly one time losing all progress
has a lot of issues, but i enjoyed it.

my ideal game would be a cross between the gba FOMT and this one,

What happened to the harvest moon series.
It used to be so charming.

Now it just looks like a bad mobile game.

And the there is this
youtu.be/TnIyM6oKr-8

Does Harvest Moon still sell well enough to produce spin offs?

harvest moon ds is basically AWL but in sprite form lol

best part is that there is no interracial couple in the first 5 minutes

Harvest Moon was a localization of a Japanese game Bokujou Monogatari done by Natsume. Bokujou Monogatari is owned by Marvelous. They opened up their own localization studio (Senran Kagura anyone?) and took all further Bokujou Monogatari projects in house. Natsume however owned the Harvest Moon IP and weren't going to let the name go since it was the thing the company was known for. Marvelous named Bokujou Monogatari Story of Seasons for their western releases due to this, while Natsume made their own knockoff game.

Honestly I thought the first 3DS one was fun but apparently people were telling them they wanted 2D and that's what's out there now.

What's the best Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons for a beginer?

How is a game with time constraints comfy?

Natsume walked off with the rights to the name "Harvest Moon" in 2014, so Marvelous had to use the name "Story of Seasons" instead. All Harvest Moon games since then are actually just knock-offs. The series has always been called Bokujō Monogatari in Japan, so Natsume never affected the Japanese name. That being said, very little of it is actually good.

Every fucking thread

Is 2020 and they still get away with it just because they own the name people get tricked into buying shitty games because they don’t know the truth

Friends of mineral town is the best starting point imo

Thanks, I never knew about this.

Not every game needs to be packed with epic Reddit crafting/dungeon crawling mechanics. Simpler is better, and atmosphere > trendy gameplay mechanics.

No, I'm with him. AWL is an extremely shallow game.

Also rune factory 4 was re released on the switch with more content but you still can’t fuck the dragon an rune factory 5 is in development

AP always gonna be the best hm game

>nice art style
>there is an actual objetive
>interesting farming mechanics, like your spouse and children actually helping you
>comfy setting
>good rival romances

I far prefer 2D but only because they never got a comfy pacing in 3D for me.
FotM was the absolute PEAK.

Mechanically not the best harvest moon yes, FOMT has it beat. But making friends with the old man after his wife dies and helping him clean the gravestone. Watching the townsfolk get older and grow gray hair as time passes. Seeing friends gather together and thank you after you pass away, and seeing what your son grows up to be. No other game has ever captured the same spirit

Yeah point taken, it did some unique things.

Stardew Valley is the only one of these games I could get into, the simple 2d graphics really make me feel comfy, reminds me of playing Harvest Moon snes/gba. The new low poly graphics in recent Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games just feels off putting to me.

I would put so many babies in Celia.

>tfw conflicted on getting SoS Mineral Town because FoTM was one of my favorite HM games of all time but the artstyle in SoS really turns me off

The 3D models don't really bother me, it's the portraits. It just seems really safe and bland, like they changed how everyone looks for the sake of change.

The game has has some amazing concepts for sure, but that just serves to make it even more disappointing imo. So much potential but they just couldn't link it to the gameplay. I found myself just making myself just go to sleep immediately after waking up because there was literally nothing to do but watch people get older.
