Halo CE

Nier Automata
Batman Arkham Asylum
Lufia
Symphony of the Night
Contra Hard Corps

Just played through that last week. Probably the best, especially at the time.

Indigo Prophecy

What's so amazing about it? You go down an an alley and there's a bunch of gore at the end and then LOL IT WAS ALL A DREAM. If this was a western game SH fanboys would be criticizing it for using pointless cheap gore for shock value.

It was original. The camera angle changes and is designed to disorient you as you go down the hallway, the music starts creeping up, the visuals get more and more bizarre. It was a really well directed sequence that blew my 9 year old mind.

Parasite eve opening, it’s a shame it would never be remastered. The pre rendered background make it super comfy tough so I’m not sure a remaster could ever do it justice

Bayonetta

im old enough to remember this being new and mind blowing. the idea that you HAVE to die in this sequence was earth shattering. too bad ideas like this have been done so much by now its not even considered original by revisionists.

>Beautiful cinematography
>Amazing crank up of atmosphere
>Literal shock factory created through gameplay mechanics alone
>Also sets up psychological horror and disturbance with the very same scene, working as an appetizer of things to come.

Is this Silent Hill? Which one?

The best one, of course.

Have you seen a little girl? Short, black hair. Just turned 7 last month.

>Also sets up psychological horror
What psychological horror? There's just a bunch of gore in the scene and that's it. I'm so fucking sick of SH fanboys spouting off the phrase "psychological horror" as if it's synonymous with "intelligent horror" or the SH franchise even has much of it in the first place. Only SH2 is a psychological horror game. The rest aren't. They are just some stupid shit about ancient cults and a blasphemous depiction of Christianity.

Not him but hit me up with some psychological horror

>What psychological horror? There's just a bunch of gore in the scene and that's it.
Way to be a literal brainlet.
The whole scene, from beginning to end, relies on psychological horror. It is only the very pre-finale that resorts to pure terror, and even then as a mere vehicle for the aftermath, which also reminds you that yes - you are playing a survival horror title, not a marathon simulator in a fug fag fog town.

sh2 baby mad that people are giving attention to 1 and that he can't grasp anything from the other games other than muh cult

>blasphemous depiction of Christianity.
So you've only seen the dumb movie thenn?

Hello yes please someone?

You don't know what psychological horror is. Here, I'll explain it to you by way of example.
Things that are psychological horror:
>the final nightmare of a dying mind that doesn't want to accept it's end
>mental illness warping perceptions of reality nightamarishly
Things that are not psychological horror:
>cults performing rituals to birth demons
>"You see it's really smart because this monster represents her fear of bugs!"
>weird shit that is designed to disorientate or upset the viewer

SH rarely relies upon jump scares and serves to make you feel unease

is a parent losing their child not psychological horror?

Too bad about the rest.

>Things that are psychological horror:
>mental illness
>Things that are not psychological horror:
>cults
You still just sound like someone who is spazzing out because people aren't only talking about SH2.

In of itself? No. Not at all. But if the loss of that child causes a mental breakdown for the parent and they start hallucinating, going paranoid, etc., etc. then it can be considered psychological horror. What do you people think the "psychological" in "psychological horror" means? It's not referring to the viewers being disturbed, manipulated, etc., etc. by what they are consuming, it specifically refers to the origin of the horror for the story. If the horror is not coming from the mind then it's not psychological horror. The only SH game in which the "antagonist" is the character's own mind is SH2. The rest are NOT psychological horror.

>meet a cute girl
>she pulls out her giant penis
>starts pooping
what a great game
don't think we'll ever top it

Don't even pretend you weren't drawn in by its false promises.

Any surreal horror games?

American McGee's Alice

Never even touched the game.
Saw tons of video clips, realized it's practically a QTE movie, and just ignored it.

It lost me the second it had someone sneak up behind someone who was standing in front of a mirror. He can clearly see him in the reflection and inexplicably doesn't.

The Void

Are we really doing this. Are we really shitting on one of the best comedies ever made in videogame history? Jesus fucking christ. Get the fuck off my board.

It starts off so interesting, and then becomes the most hilariously schlocky pile of B-grade shit. David Cage is a fucking hack.

Say whatever you want but the first two missions of MoH Rising Sun involving Pearl Harbor still give me chills
it's all spectacle, yes, but a damn good spectacle
I replayed it a few months ago on a PS2 emulator and it's still as good as I remember

retard

>posts the ost instead of the intro in question
Fuck you.

This is an amazing openings thread. I don't think I got hooked on Fahrenheit as an accidental comedy until the bug sequence.

Here you go then, niggerfaggot

As much as people like to be contrarian and shit on anything popular, FF7 really does have a great opening. Gets you right in the action and hits you with some great visuals instead of giving you a slow lore dump.

Reality.
Honestly, taking care of someone whose lung cancer migrated to the brain is legit psychological horror. For him and for you.

>Psychological horror usually aims to create discomfort or dread by exposing common or universal psychological and emotional vulnerabilities/fears and revealing the darker parts of the human psyche that most people may repress or deny. This idea is referred to in analytical psychology as the archetypal shadow characteristics: suspicion, distrust, self-doubt, and paranoia of others, themselves, and the world.
SH is not psychological horror.
