Late night Tokyo Jungle thread? I just recently got it working on RPCS3 and I can't figure out how to do shit. Any advice for a newbie? I'm trying to play Giraffe mainly.
Tokyo Jungle
It's sarariman or nothing, user.
I used to play this with my brother all the time.
Wish they would make a sequel.
Can you play as a dog?
I am too stupid to get this running on my cfw´d ps3. Every other pkg just werks
You can even play a goth dog
I have no idea how well it actually sold. I remember it getting a little bit of buzz at least, but I haven't even heard of the studio that made it since it came out.
Isn't it just a japanstudio joint?
I think partially? There's a studio credited at the beginning and on wikipedia called "Crispy's" as well though.
What the fuck, they made Short Peace with Suda51
Yeah, that game had the same director. I've never played that game though, which is kind of ironic since Suda threads are the only other threads I ever try to start on Yas Forums.
it's a weird side-scroller. I was more interested in the Otomo anthology though, and it's worth it on a sale. or just watch the movie on an anime site.
I just bought it because I was on an obscure japanese PS3 games stint.
>eat
>sleep
>reproduce
Did I miss anything?
But as an herbivore, should I just constantly eat everything I can see, or should I try to save some for later? I keep running out of non-toxic food.
I played a lot of this but can't remember how to play it. I know fugging was important for raising stats.
I fucking love Tokyo Jungle.
As a grazer, you want to prioritize eating fruits and mushrooms for large chunks of kcal, grasses are the staples of your diet, and ignore flowers unless you really need to remove toxicity and you've found a clean one or are in a hunger emergency. However, you will want to be careful because fruits give you a juicy 800 big fat fucking kcal, and mushrooms give you 400, but when you rank up, excess kcal is not carried over, so never eat a fruit if you're gonna waste the kcal (for example, you're ranking up to veteran but you're at 1000/1200 kcal--try to save the kcal so you can use them for getting to boss faster). You will also want to keep on the move because this game absolutely SHITS smog all over the fucking place past year 20, and plants are the first things to rot so you're going to get cucked a lot. Check your map to see where the food is and try to follow it if it doesn't conflict with anything else you want to do. Also, keep in mind that shit despawns when you get far enough away from an area (no hard numbers here, just assume if you go far into a neighboring area the plants you left behind won't be there when you come back). Use items wisely and at appropriate times, they could save your run. And a protip: for grazers, eat while crouching to speed up the animations. All grazers take the same amount of bites to eat anything, which is fucking stupid and takes forever, but with this sick technique, you'll be chewing through flowers faster than they'll pollute.
And never EVER take a desperate mate if you have important stat gains you want to pass on. Those filthy whores give 1/10, a fucking TENTH, of gains--they are a literal waste of a generation, and give only one pack-mate.
Nice, this is what I was looking for. The Giraffe is actually marked as an herbivore not a grazer, but I assume your advice still all applies but I can also kill stuff if it attacks me, right?
can anyone get the game to not crash a couple hours in? every time I play the audio always cuts out and then the game dies right after, and it always happens after about 2 or so hours, makes long runs really hard
on rpsc3*
Herbivore, grazer, same thing, my guy. Large herbivores are pretty good at killing things, actually, so show little mercy if anything tries to fuck with you. Just beware of the stronger animals--the big cats, crocs, and dinos all will fuck your shit up. Large packs of almost anything can kill you without ripped stats, so do be careful about taking on a bunch of wolves and whatnot. On the other hand, playing smaller grazers is like playing a survival horror at first.
This game was pretty fun but I never got far into it.
Oh I wanted to ask too, I'm still new so I don't really have the map memorized, but sometimes when I zoom out of the menu map it doesn't have the names of the areas on the map. Is this just an emulator bug or do I have to do something to get it to display the area names?
Emulator bug, I get the same thing.
anymore tokyo jungle comics?
This game was great. It needs a sequel that is massively expanded in scope.
were there ever omnivores in the game or just carnivores and herbivores?
Carnivores, herbivores, and grazers. As far as I can tell the only difference between herbivores and grazers is that grazers can't attack or kill other stuff at all.
I've got one more, but I gotta dig it up so you'll have to excuse me for a bit. Sadly, I was late to the party on this game and missed all the threads when it was FOTM for a while.
Sadly, only carnivores and herbivores. It's like one of the most obvious things that could be expanded upon in TJ2 IF IT WOULD EVER FUCKING HAPPEN
I may be just mixing up the particular terms used for each, but there is no distinction of herbivores and grazers, they're the same class. They can all attack and kill, but smaller ones will have shit stats and garbage attacks so they can't do much. Larger ones have massive stats and attacks that can actually hit things so they can get much more aggressive.
Hopefully someone else will have more stuff for us both, but TJ threads tend to die off fast.
It's fine, I already got some good info and it's lasted longer than my killer7 threads.
Would you recommend the story mode at all? I've just been doing survival mode in hopes of beating my friends' cat and horse scores with the Giraffe so far. Also do your starting animals get stronger even on new survival playthroughs as you progress in generations? I noticed my Giraffe has a 2G below it instead of the 1G it had before, but I forgot its base stats so I can't tell if it's stronger at all.
A pomeranian is the fucking mascot user
