It saddens me how Yas Forums is just a bunch of normie pretending to know videogames.
Best gunplay in the industry
We all played the first one. What's new in the sequel?
But who's the sender?
It's basically the same identical game with proper graphics, more guns, more enemies, and a shitload more of tapes and new collectables that add a lot of lore. There are all kinds of gun malfunctions, and it teaches you to be conscious and deliberate when using your firearm because you can end up shooting your leg if you're uncaring.
tl;dr it's Receiver: Full Game Edition
It bugged me that there didn't seem to be any consequences for leaving the safety off in Receiver 1.
just watched the trailer and it's got some shit breathless voiceover instead of the old droning guy. is that just a poor choice for the vid or did they fuck that up?
Does it actually have more guns? Admittedly I haven't gotten very far because I'm very impatient but I keep getting the same four guns as were in the first game.
Also, it touches thematics like mental trauma, isolation, and suicide, and it deals with them fairly well, although in quite a bold way. I had the pleasure to talk with the head developer and I've been told they've done their homework when writing those parts. It's been under development for more than two years, and to me the end result is amazing.
Yeah, now you'll shoot your leg. You survive the first round, but the second kills you. The Glock 17 doesn't have a manual safety so you always have to pay attention when holstering and extracting the gun. The mechanic is fairly simple: instead of tapping the key, you need to hold it, which may seem trivial, but I've shot myself so many times because I wasn't paying attention. It kinda teaches you about firearms the proper way, also through lore.
How many guns are in it so far? I only got the SW Model 10, The Detective Special, Colt 1911, Glock 17, Desert Eagle, Beretta M9, Hi-Point and the Sig. I think i saw in a screenshot, there was a Single Action Army too? What else is in?
I hope some dual wield firearms can be added like a pump shotgun or a lever action rifle
new guns, new maps, new mechanics, etc.
the most direct improvement upon the original a sequel could have
Lol i always keep the safety on.
This game teaches me gun safety and discipline more than i thought
at this point i just fucking unload the glock before putting it away
The voice acting is way less detached and gets across as more emotionally involved. Some expressed disappointment in the choice, but for me it's a good call, since the game is much broader in context.
For now I've encountered
>Colt Detective Special
>S&W Model 10
>Colt 1911
>Glock 17
>IMI Desert Eagle
Because I couldn't get past level 3, as I often die as a dumb idiot at level 2.
you get SAA at the last tier i think
it sucks ass
Isn't it made by the same guy who made pic rel?
I've read in their discord they contacted all major guntubers, mainly to fact-check the content, but nobody replied, which is a shame because this game teaches you about guns in a way that I've never seen before, and I'm sure /k/ would love it.
Yes.
That's it? Damn that sucks
>tfw i hear the screaming tape
Shooting robots isn't that fun or exciting OP
>Hi-Point
I can't wait to read what they wrote about it lol
>tfw the first time you encounter an Echo Tape
This is the biggest downside. But if there's more enemies now than the stationary turret and that damn lethal as fuck drone, I'm at least more interested.
This game is tense as fuck. Every beep is a hearth attack. Every time a turret starts shooting and I run for cover I realize I shifted in my chair to mimick the in-game movement. It's really immersive, with high stakes and high risk. It won't be everyone's kind of game, but it sure is fun for me.
There are sleeping turrets that activate when you pass in front of them. Every time it's butt clenching.
*ahem*
FUCK GLOCKS
>no DRM-free version in Humble Store
>OG has DRM-free builds and it's only $1
Sorry, OP.
Okay Yas Forums I'm pirating this. Sure hope you're not wasting my time.
wow, a facelift for a tech demo is somehow a full game. Not even vr added
>spend 30 minutes wandering around looking for tapes
>eventually get bored and start taking fights I shouldn't
>die sooner or later
>repeat
It is neat but this is pretty dull and there's not much to do once you've mastered not shooting yourself in the foot every time you holster your glock. Someone needs to make a zombie mod or something otherwise I can't see myself ever starting it up again
Yeah it can get really painful looking for tapes, my first and only time getting to level 3 I must have spent 15 minutes running around without finding a single one
I’m a gun autist, but I never enjoyed the first game. I can barely remember the experience but I think it’s because I own real firearms and trying to translate hands on operation with such depth into the game felt unnatural. My interest isn’t in learning a new keyboard and mouse based manual of arms, I honestly prefer the simplified version in most games. VR probably wouldn’t solve it because there’s still no good physical model to manipulate. It’s similar to how I don’t like enabling a full manual system in racing games unless I have a physical race wheel, pedals, and shifter.
Also didn’t particularly enjoy the combat with turrets and drones. That said, I appreciate the attention to detail.
It's a shame that you're just fighting robots though. Robots are like the worst type of enemies you could fight against when the focus is on guns.
Always wanted to play the original but never bothered to buy it, glad I got to jump in with a version that doesn't look like ass. was not expecting the Threat = Depression angle and it's fucking fascinating.
congratulations, you now understand gun safety better than most americans
>load glock
>set to rapid fire
>hit tab over and over
gun mechanics are but I agree it needs wet targets to get the full appreciation of the purpose of firearms.
I think its more focus on gun safety and the whole fact that you're in full control of the gun, fighting humanoid targets wouldn't go well, probably against the spirit of the game.
>fighting humanoid targets wouldn't go well
You'd have to actually reload during a fight instead of just carefully sniping 2 robot parts, putting your weapon on safe and going to scavenge 2-3 bullets. With more ammo and more interesting enemies it would be a lot better to play
Oh yeah, it would be more interesting, but I wouldn't consider it better to play. You are dealing with guns that can jam, shoddy magazines, revolvers with busted holes. Dealing with all that, as well as having handling accidents with wet targets would be far too chaotic.
>game deranks you for dying
seems a little harsh
>game deranks you for closing the game
thats a refund for me
The theme of the game is gun safety and handling. Plus the whole psychological dream/whatever the fuck effect the MindKill is
Guns are magnificent machines and the worst thing about them is they're made purely to murder. Cutting that part out puts the focus on the guns themselves, and not simply on how effective they are at their sole purpose.
Its a Roguelike. No shit.
