Sup, Yas Forums. Been a while. As the subject reads, due to my life becoming more complicated after graduating high school, I've missed a lot in the world of video games. I never really stopped playing vidya, but due to a lack of funds and time, I mostly stuck to playing games for platforms I already had and building a library of cheap used games and games I could run that were on sale or easily pirated. Meaning not much on my current setup. So, with this stimulus and loads of time to catch up, I figured I can upgrade my PC and buy a new console or two. I have the 7th gen consoles and managed to scrape up some cash for Dark Souls 2 when it came out, but that's basically the newest game I've played.
tl;dr: Have I missed anything these last few years? Are there any games worth playing made during and after the 2010s?
No. Video games suck except for like rare miracles like dmc5 You missed nothing.
Luis Scott
where you in prison or something wtf does my life being complicated mean
Thomas Smith
Sekiro is pretty fun
Hunter Hughes
Normalfag shit, I guess? Work, school, drinking with work buddies, stuff like that. When I had time to hang with friends, we usually played /tg/ shit, D&D, board games, big multi-man games of Magic. I still played vidya, as stated, but I mostly stuck to old stuff because that's what I could run/afford.
Michael Murphy
Well, I loved 3 and liked 4, so that's probably a good place to start.
Henry Nelson
Huh, it's made by From Software. Is it anything like Demon's or Dark Souls? I did play those.
Jonathan Lewis
Not sure what your genres / intrests are, so heres a splattering:
Witcher 3 Zelda Breath of the Wild Xenoblade 1/X/2 Mario Odyssey God of War (2018) Doom (2016) Tomb Raider (2013) Detroit: become human Factorio Terraria Risk of Rain FtL Transistor Slay the spire Hearthstone Overwatch Fortnite / PUBG
Charles Hall
How do you fuck up being an adult so bad for a decade that you can't afford to keep up with vidya?
Benjamin Johnson
I tended to play anything I either heard about from word of mouth or anything I saw that looked interesting. I really like racing games, shooters, and RPGs, particularly action RPGs. I played a shitload of Halo back in the day, but other than that and couch co-op, I never had much of an interest in multiplayer stuff. Guess all those nights of Mario Kart/Party scratched the itch.
It's very hard for me to nail down even a top ten, so list my favorites for the genres I mentioned.
Perfect Dark, Halo 3, and Duke Nukem 3D for shooters, Burnout 3, F-Zero GX, and Gran Turismo 4 for racers, and too many RPGs to count, but all the Mario RPGs I've played were great.
I'll try to make a big text document for all the recommendations, thanks guys.
By being a total cheapskate, mostly. Eventually me and my friends stuck to other interests and whenever we got the itch for vidya, we mostly played old stuff. Haven't posted on Yas Forums since the 2010's, mostly browsing Yas Forums, /tg/, and occasionally /toy/, because I have a Bionicle problem.

GTA IV/V? Apart from that the first titles that comes to mind is The Witcher series
Good FPS that aren't MP/online-focused: Metro STALKER Bioshock Deus Ex
James Ross
I played the shit out of Vice City and San Andreas on Xbox, so I'd probably like those.
And I assume you're talking about the newer Deus Ex games, because the first one I've played and is pretty old, isn't it? Same with Bioshock, actually, I played it on 360 when I wasn't playing Halo 3, so I guess I'll ask if the sequels are any good?
Luis Collins
Both the Deus Ex and Bioshock sequels are good , except The Fall and Invisible War
Wyatt Campbell
>Skipped an entire decade of vidya Oh dear god OP it's gotten worse, so much worse.
Jackson White
Go play NieR:Automata, nigga-san
Logan Harris
Yeah, I already knew about Invisible War. I'll check them out.
I mean, I left the scene when everything had to be CoD, including Halo 4, so it can't be worse than that, right?
I've actually seen the original NieR floating around some used game shops I go to, should I play it first?
Jace Sanchez
>so it can't be worse than that, right? ....Who's gonna tell him?
I mean, you could leave me blissfully unaware, but this is Yas Forums, so I imagine somebody'll ruin it for me.
I played Demon's and the first two Dark Souls, I said DaS2 is probably the newest game I've played. It was kind of disappointing, though, I prefer Demon's and the first one.
Gabriel Kelly
Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV. Thank me later.
Jace Adams
Man, they're never gonna make another Midnight Club, are they? I loved 3 and LA.
Jaxson Diaz
Those sound like complicated PC games that I'm too stupid to play.
Blake Thomas
ur dumb and jumanji is a dumb movie
Leo Phillips
just play Yakuza 0 other games don't matter
Robert Anderson
Don't listen to the doomposters op, they're jaded and/or memeing. As other anons said fromsoftware games, witcher and metro 2033 are all worth looking into. For PC Mount and Blade Bannerlord is really fucking cool.
Justin Scott
I've actually played the first two games, are none of the others worth looking into?
Yas Forums was full of drama queens when I browsed in the early 2010's, I can't say I'm super surprised.
Logan Johnson
You missed the early accesses survival and the battle royale craze. Of those I would only recommend The Forest and Subnautica for survival and try out any of the active BRs that are free to play.
What systems do you plan to play on, btw?
Jack Clark
any good mech games i want to cruise around in an avatar general mech suit with upgradable weapons mowing shit down.
The dark souls series is pretty good if you like RPGs. Also WoW classic and OSRS are the two big MMOs. They're exactly like you remember 10 years ago. A few other games you should check out >Fallout New Vegas >Prey 2017 >Portal 2 >TLOZ: Breath of the wild >antichamber >Hollow Knight >Just Cause 2 >Hotline Miami >Undertale (just avoid the fandom like the plague, its a decent rpg) >The Stanley Parable >Kenshi >TES: Skyrim >The Witcher Series >Baba is you (very challenging and unique puzzle game) >Doom 2016 And if you haven't played minecraft I highly recommend it with mods.

Mostly PC these days, but that's because I emulate a lot. I have all the 7th consoles, home and handheld. I still have my Xbox hooked up because I've given up hope of an emulator for it. I can emulate Gamecube and PS2 half decent, though. I'm thinking about just completely building a PC from scratch with my stimulus, though I'm wondering if multiplatform games are still total trash on PC because they don't care about porting them.
I see a few of my Steam friends playing Monster Hunter World, and it's kinda making me want to try it out. I used to love the PSP games. I'm positive I can't run it, though.
I played all the Armored Core games up to For Answer, does that count?
I'll have to check that out, then. Have the put out anything else of note recently?
Ian Rogers
Oh yeah, a new Half Life game just came out. But its VR only, and headsets are $300 for a cheap but good one.
Jackson Russell
>try out any of the active BRs that are free to play. I'm gonna add to this and say user should just go ahead and avoid Fortnite. Its not worth it.
Charles Torres
>Hollow Knight >Botw So I'm not the only one who was gonna suggest it. Sweet. Good taste all around frankly. OP, listen to user. Also play SUPERHOT and SUPERHOT:MCD
Wyatt Nelson
I actually put a lot of time into Morrowind and Oblivion on PC, vanilla and modded, so I feel like I'll enjoy the newer Bethesda RPGs
All I know about Undertale is that one of my friends made a goat demon character based on one of the characters, though he just rolled him as a Tiefling Bard for simplicity's sake. Did anybody from Undertale like to melt faces with guitar solos? Because that happened a lot.
Nicholas Thompson
A lot of people are mentioning BotW. Skip it. It is super fucking terrible. Easily the most overrated game of all time. The greatest heights that game manages to reach is mediocracy. I got it for free and I feel ripped off. Easily the worst Zelda game if you don’t include the fucking C-DI games.
