the 64 wiggler looks way more charming. personally i think the DS designs are better. The flower and jolly roger bay details seem nitpicky

DS has the absolute worse fucking controls even with the circle pad, the tidbit of new shit doesn't make up for it. Anyone complaining about textures or some other minor changes don't know why it's hated in the first place.

The problem is just Nintendo trying too hard on branding and streaming everything Mario to look the same.
Might work financially but it kills any sort of creativity the N64 and GC Mario games had

DS is great, you just have to get used to the controls. It's drastically different than the original. That being said, the original is definitely better. DS with the run button removed and full control stick movement would be perfect.

The extra stars, secret areas and minigames in the DS version were nice. Give me a Mario 64 romhack with those extra locations/stars. The extra characters sound nice at first but they just took Mario's moves and powerups and just spilt it across 3 extra characters. The d-pad controls take a bit of time to get used to, but no one really complained about that until fairly recently, Mario 64 being portable on the DS made many people look past it. At the very least it's playable and enjoyment can be had with it.

I wouldn't call it shit. It has its own merits, like the ability to play as Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario. But yes, it's pretty lacking in the soul department.

64 original always. I liked those levels and stars more also I hate being forced to change characters and the controls were terrible.

i like both but i do have a soft spot for the luigi minigames in 3ds since i have a gambling problem
