The model is really barebones. I'll start with the hair: having hair being part of the base mesh is the kind of shit they pulled in HL2, by the time of L4D they had figured out how to at least fake hair with texture cards placed on the scalp. His model being this shit (with the fucking clipping especially) makes me think it was originally intended for some HL3 interation where you just saw the model through reflections or whatever gameplay necessitated it (similar to Chell having a model because of portals). It doesn't seem like something they intended anyone to scrutinize like Russell's model.

They completely removed the textures for the contractor talking to the advisor because it wasn't meant to be seen either-- there's no reason to fully texture (complete with eyes and battle damage?) a freeman model... even if it were just fanservice for people to rip it out they wouldn't have left it so shit
