>One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch. >But there’s a catch: Rockstar’s next big project is still early in development.
Next GTA is early in the development and will be a medium sized game that will be expanded with updates.
Makes sense. They spent five years developing V just to lean into the MP and use that shoddy implementation as a base for the next decade. You're going to see VI built from the ground up to accommodate long-term content updates now that they know it's all about MP. Expect even less SP content this time.
This could backfire, many people have invested a lot of money in GTAO, I doubt they have the balls to go against their own cashcow.

>that is then expanded with regular updates over time Fucking cringe The only good expansion rockstar did was EFLC
Robert Smith
isn't it sustained by heavily modded servers? i'm not very familiar with the scene, but I can see that stably popular on twitch.
Luke Hall
That would be FiveM, it is a quite different game, GTAO is the official online service Rockstar provides, you can play the game and earn ingame money to buy all sorts of things, or you can skip that part and buy Sharkcards, which is what many kids do, it's their MTX system..

anyone that links to kotaku deserves a slow and painful death.
>regular updates over time >literally 0 of these will be for the single player
Aiden King
>not Bully 2 or Agent Not interested

Judging by the article, RockStar is getting pozzed.
>Last spring, Dan Houser went on a sabbatical that later turned into his departure from the company. Throughout the year, Rockstar replaced studio heads at its San Diego, California and Lincoln, UK offices. The company also booted directors and managers who were said to contribute to cultural issues. Rockstar held meetings about conduct and sexual harassment, and made plans to bring in a coaching organization called Mindful Talent for management training.

>It’s been a slow process, Rockstar developers say, but it’s led to improvements to some people’s lives. “It’s like there’s an operation to get rid of bad eggs,” said one Rockstar employee. “There are still bad eggs around, don’t get me wrong, but it feels like their days are numbered.”
Can't wait for them to be dead, and there be a myriad of "What the fuck happened to RockStar" YouTube videos by normies as they turn into something akin to BioWare. Screencap this.
After 5 I have no hopes it will be good at all. They will obviously focus on online because sharkcards gave them enough money to live trough 3 fucking console generations.
I wouldn't mind it that much if they at least made the SP decent but 5's SP was just an obvious introduction to their online fuckery with a boring ass map with one decent city and a big ass desert.
I'll be happy if they prove me wrong but Gta5 was legit one of the biggest vidya letdown I ever experienced.
People put money in GTAO so they don't have to spend time grinding to buy all the new DLC. Simply don't make any more DLC and people will stop buying shark cards

>linking to Kotaku newfags need to be purged
Joshua Fisher
OK, but people(retards) have invested their money already.
Luis Hughes
Rockstar is indeed dead.
Nicholas Kelly
So they spent all their time working on RDR2 after all
Aaron Young
>normies are still gonna lap up any steaming pile of shit these companies throw out in front of them yeah rockstar isnt dead, its cultural influences have only just begun.
Jordan Miller
What a daring leap by Kotaku, truly the kings of speculation
