Silent Hill

Should I emulate SH2 on PCSX2 or play the PC version? Which one is better?

PC with the Enhanced edition mod

The one you enjoy the most.

Get an old crt, a ps2, sit on the floor, and turn out the lights.

Base PC version is fine, with the Enhanced mod it's even better

But this is pure SOUL

Pretty nice user

The natural visual noise effect is nice on a CRT but enhanced edition has more worthy QoL fixes and upgrades

that's probably the best way to enjoy cheesy horror games. maybe rent cabin in the woods if you don't already own one for added experience

Can I play it 60fps?

The PC ports + Enhanced Edition mods.
See the other SH rookie thread for the Guide + DL links at : "No", as in it's technically possible, but breaks the game logic at this moment. It's rock solid 30 though.

Yeah. Only thing that glitches out is the sound of falling casings from the guns. Otherwise works perfectly.

Technically yes but you may run into glitching.

That shit's (one of the many) HD Collection issue(s), not a PC port bug.

is the game really that good? is it really worth the effort to download all the fixes n stuff?

No we are just talking about it 20 years later as a joke

user the game came out nearly 20 years ago. To this day it's still an unsurpassed psychological experience provoking daily discussion.

No, play Outlast or something. Silent Hill games are clunky as fuck.

Game is worth it for the music/sound design alone.(wear headphones)
Theres also ALOT of symbolism that isnt apparent in most games today which is kinda dope, and the certain elements of the story are pretty fucking dark.

Had the same question a few months ago. PCSX2 was much better. Ran it very nicely with no glitches i could notice.

In terms of graphics, HD collection doesn't look half bad. Why does everyone hate it?

>is the game really that good?
That a rhetorical question?
It's one of THE quintessential video games ever made. Literally BTFO 99% of the crap released ever since.

SH1 is still my favorite game in the series, and much spookier ride in general. I highly recommend playing it first.

Because it is so broken, ugly and generally raped, that even the ORIGINAL DEVS from Team-Silent hate it.
There is NOTHING good about it. Nothing.

They don't. You're likely just hearing a loud minority.

I was wondering: How would we do a Silent Hill game about an actual soldier with PTSD? Not like Homecoming.

>Combat is more fluid than the other games, but low resources mean you gotta choose your fights wisely
>Tight spaces can trigger the Otherworld
>Soldiers who are literally faceless as enemies
>Normal event slowly becomes more distorted, such as a drive to work, as the people around you become more hostile.

Something like that

>in terms of graphics
it looks way worse than the PS2 / PC original.
The voice-acting and sountracks are also literally raped, performance is totally abysmal, and the script changes are just idiotic.

>t. I found out Yas Forums in 2019
EVERYONE loathers that piece of shit.
Including the original creators of the games.

The SH's ""HD"" "Collection" is literally THE worst warning example of how to NOT do a remaster.

I am returd, will i b abl to download and install all the things without getting a headache

Wait I'm retarded. I thought you were referring to the enhanced edition not the HD collection. Sorry for the misunderstanding lad.

If you get a headache from downloading a game, installing it on your hard disk, and unpacking a zip file into the folder ... I would recommend seeing a doctor.

There's a literal step-by-step written instructions on the SH2:EE's home page, and a fan-made installation tutorial video on YT. You just can't fuck this up.

see:

Will it play nicely with my xbox pad or should I stick with MKB?

Sometimes I wonder if posts like these are trolling for the sake of discussion.

You can use an Xbox pad with the Enhanced Edition.
See the instructions first though.
And in case it was not said enough of times: play SH1 first.
