what i liked about ff7r is how they made sephiroth infinitely more badass than he was in the original. whenever i play the ps1 game i have to wait hours and hours to even see him on that boat for the first time. but now, in the remake, you get badass sephiroth after 45 minutes. and everytime you start to miss him, BAM, he's there again tormenting cloud with his badassness. and as a cherry on top. the final cutscene we get to see sephiroths full power in action. throwing buildings, flying around at the speed of light. toying with cloud like a cat with a mouse. in the original sephiroth was just a boring guy walking around reading books. but now he's actually the coolest most powerful motherfucker and you actually fear him.

they took a great character from the original and remake him without all the flaws. absolutely 10/10 by squareenix on that one.

Gameplay could be better.
Textures vary wildly in quality, even unimportant NPCs look much worse than main characters, almost like they are in a different art style.
Exploration is ass, it's all corridors.
Time janitors are fucking stupid.
Alternate timelines and dimensions are stupid.
Futuresight Sephiroth appearing after a few mins and constantly whispering sweet homos into Cloud's ears is stupid.
Changing the story to open it up completely and go Kingdom Hearts in part2 onwards is stupid.
Releasing the game in multiple parts across multiple generations is stupid.

Honestly, it's almost everything I wanted. Midgar is the only good part of FF7 to begin with and I like that they trimmed the fat by cutting out all the generic rural towns and caves and whatnot. They even added an awesome Sephiroth fight like in Advent Children, which was the perfect way to end it. The only thing missing is my man Vincent. I fucking loved him in Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. If he's added as DLC, it really will be the definitive FF7 experience.
