Devs rightfully apologize for the mess that was bravely second compared to the og bravely default

>reddit immediatly jumps to the defense, claiming they loved the storyline, humour and even characters in bravely second much more than the bravely default which they hated because of the boss rush

Bravely Second had better gameplay and way better pacing which made it more enjoyable to play, especially in the second half. Doesn't matter how hard you cover your ears, chapters 5-8 of Default sucked and were a poor excuse to pad the game's lenght.

The only thing wrong with second was the writing. Like, why do they keep fucking talking about food? And what the fuck is coup de gravy supposed to mean?
Yew is cool but Magnolia's character was disappointing when compared to her appearance in the teaser. Oh and outside of a few tracks the music didn't live up to BD's ost.

the boss rush isn't even that bad and the people that complain about it are the same ones who dropped it the first time they had to refight a boss instead of doing it a few times. I'm far more worried for II between the demo and how its meant to be an apology when it looks like a lower quality retread so far.

It's not better than default, but it's not shit like you seem to think OP

I quit the game halfway through because of how boring the characters and story were. It didnt have the same charm and draw to it as the first, even if you count in the whole loop thing.

except you could turn off encounters completely and just fight the bosses to get through those chapters quickly

the only thing bad with it is that the usic sucked balls. writing and gameplay are better imo

The pacing and gameplay were better.
Yew was better than Tiz though it's not a huge improvement
Most of the bad things come down to Square rushing the project and forcing the devs to fuck over the initial concepts.

>the initial concepts.
do go on

From the artbooks, it seems Janne and Nikolai were going to be permanent party members as they had art for other job outfits, for instance.

Magnolia was supposed to be a cool action girl fighting Ba'als
The main party was supposed to be her, Tiz, Nikolai and Janne playing the roles of D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers

To be fair, how do you even portray cool action scenes in that artstyle? There was like one action scene in Default and Second each.

I still don't understand people bitching about the human boss fights in the 2nd half of the game, that shit was some of the best part of the game. And I don't understand how people can spend hours on the repeat timelines, it's 4 boss fights. The only valid complaint is re-fighting the same crystal bosses multiple times.

You don't need actual scenes, just give her a cool personality, not this fucking doormat we got instead
She was supposed to be a mysterious girl from the moon who spent her life fighting some eldritch horrors which would force Yew to man the fuck up if he wanted to keep up with her.

>you can turn off fights!
isn't that just conceding the point that your combat system isn't fun and progression through the dungeon isn't immersive

Bravely Default is a chore in the first chapters as well

Hell no, Tiz was better than the shit that was Yew.

"Bravely Default" is one of the worst names for anything ever, it makes no sense grammatically, tells people NOTHING about it at first glance, and people use the excuse that those are 2 important actions you can take in thew game are also retarded, otherwise you might as well name every game after the menu options that appear in it

>he never uses holy waters or repels in jrpgs

I want a wife like Magnolia.

Comparing a commidity designing for saving your low-health party in treacherous conditions to an unlimited button click for skipping battles at the player's leisure seems disingenuous, especially when one of the draws of the game is supposed to be the combat system

so if instead of an optional encounter rate adjuster they just had a consumable that did the exact same thing it'd be fine?

Mrgrgr

But I did like it ,I was my first bravery game. You're just faggot

Not him but it sounds like you're going off on a separate tangent instead of addressing his point of
>isn't that just conceding the point that your combat system isn't fun and progression through the dungeon isn't immersive

How is giving players the freedom to adjust the encounter rate conceding that the combat isn't fun? It's just giving the player the freedom to do what they want.

What's the demo for 2 like?

It wasn't that bad, hardly worth an apology. The only reason I didn't buy it was localisation butchering the sidequests.

Less butchering and more they forced them to play out the versions with the full ending as a response to nips complaining about having to pick the same side twice in a run to see the endings we got in the first go.

My cousin keeps recommending these games to me, but I don't trust him because he doesn't think for himself. Every opinion he has came from somewhere else, which he repeats verbatim like he came up with it. I even found where he likes to hang out online, made an insightful post where I knew he would see it, and he repeated it back to me the next day as if it were from his own mind.

That's the kind of person that likes Bravely Default.

They fucking fixed the sidequests. The nips were complaining about missing out on jobs and have to play the entire game twice just to get them all.

sounds like he's not the only one who let's others to dictate their opinions on things

fun
