OG FF7 is fucking incredible, last time I went back to it it still blew my mind, the settings are varied and the characters, the pre-rendered backgrounds and the OST are toppest tier, plus it still has enough side stuff like chocobo breeding, gold saucer and the endgame weapons, anyone saying it aged poorly is a complete zoomer.

red is really strong when you first get him, but due to his poor limit breaks late game, you'd want barret or even tifa.

Shills. That wasn't an argument until the remake was released. In the timeframe after the ending leaks but before the game's release, that argument was even a thing. Yas Forums universally agreed that the story changes were bad.

Remake is a sequel in the vein of Rebuild of Evangelion. You really shouldn't play it first because almost all of the value comes from already knowing shit and the pacing is fucked.

It can also look like fucking trash, which is a problem that's mostly exclusive to gen 5. The models in FF7 don't even need to be more complex, just cleaned up.
