Final Fantasy VII Remake

Does the remake rely on story from pic related? Am I screwed if I only played the original and don't know anything about the compilation?

yep, 100%

The "remake" is a sequel to Advent Children.

It's a "requel"

Not really, there's only homages to AC towards the end, they have no relevance to the story.

Nobody understood the ending if remake beside nomura
No need to inflige you AC

The new game is more like a midquel, since it’s slowly derailing from a remake to something entirely different.

>Am I screwed if I only played the original and don't know anything about the compilation?
There's nothing to know about the compilation. Here's all that happens in it:
>Shitty over the top character X is introduced
>New bad guy who totally had ties with the old plot all along is introduced and defeated
>Sephiroth is back and Cloud kills him again
>same thing that happened in FF7 but more melodramatic and worse
There, you're up to speed.

>>New bad guy who totally had ties with the old plot all along is introduced and defeated
>>Sephiroth is back and Cloud kills him again
OP here, what the fuck?

AC is literally just "There was still a bit of Jenova somewhere and Sephiroth reformed, Cloud kill him again".
Also you might [not] want to look up Genesis from Crisis Core, also known as Original the Character.

After Sephiroth's plan in Advent Children of infecting everyone with Space AIDS and sending three white-haired twinks to fuck with Cloud didn't work, he's like "fuck this" and sent his consciousness back in time with the help of the Lifestream to possess one of the Jenova clones (one unrelated to the Sephiroth Jenova clone that's continuing the OG plot). This Future Sephiroth from the OG timeline, hereon called "Sephiroth-Prime", goal on Planet-2 is to rewrite history so his counterpart, Sephiroth-2, ultimately wins and takes over Planet-2 with Jenova-2. However, the Time Jannies are trying to stop him, and Aerith-2 also gains future sight as a result of Sephiroth-Prime sending himself back to Planet-2, which is why Sephiroth-Prime is homolusting over Cloud-2 to help him fight the Time Jannies. (BTW, this is also why everyone looks slightly different in the Remake, like Tifa-2 wears a sports bra underneath her tank top or Barret-2 wearing sunglasses at night, since due to it being an alternate timeline, Planet-2 has subtle differences from Planet-Prime.)

I hope this explanation helps you understand and enjoy the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

It's a piece of shit.

Yes. More so than the original game arguably.

There aren't two Sephiroths. It's the same Sephiroth.

AC Lifestream-God Sephiroth sends his consciousness back in time because apparently the Lifestream is connected across timelines. However, AC Lifestream-Goddess Aerith's consciousness is sent back as wella s a collateral. The remainder amalgam of consciousness in the Lifestream is also sent back and manifests as a defensive system of the planet's prime timeline, kind of like the Weapons. Harbinger Whisper resembles a Weapon.

Now, Sephiroth is even more obsessed with Cloud, because Cloud was/is his tether to reality and mainttaining his consciousness apart from the Lifestream (as per AC prequel
Because of the Whispers, events unfold mostly like in the original. Aerith slowly gets more and more precognition, and everyone she reaches out do also gets flashes and visions, including Red XIII and Marlene. In the end the party is duped by Seph by manipulating them to confront the Whispers. They defeat them, and he absorbs the residuum of their power. He still needs Cloud though, so he tries to manipulate him to join him again then disappears after taunting him with the possibility of saving Aerith in the future.

As a side effect of defeating the Whispers, the "defensive system" of the Lifestream's flow of time is out of wack, both in present and past, and it allows Zack to survive his standoff in an alternate timeline.

>tfw this garbage is never what interested me about FF7
>it's the only future available now

The Sephiroth in RE7 Remake is likely the one from Advent Children. He's found a way to go back in time through the lifestream. He knows that he will be defeated.

That line from Advent Children comes to mind:
Rufus: The Lifestream courses through our world… ever flowing between the edge of life and death. If that cycle is the very truth of life, then history, too, will inevitably repeat itself.

Some have also suggested that the three Whispers who carry a gun, a sword, and use fists respectively are Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz from Advent Children, or at least versions of them.

>Some have also suggested that the three Whispers who carry a gun, a sword, and use fists respectively are Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz from Advent Children, or at least versions of them.
I fucking hate nomura

Why...?

As I recall, the triplets in Advent Children see Aerith as "mother". There's some weird stuff going on in the movie where they're obsessed with finding Jenova, their "mother", but at the edge of death, Aerith calls to them, and they answer, being absorbed into the lifestream. If the three whispers who have gone back in time to preserve the timeline are Kadaj and the others, that would kinda make sense.

There's also the fact the three Whispers combine to form Bahamut, mirroring how the three of them summoned Bahamut in Advent Children.

>y from pic related?
yes.

This is a FF7:AC Sequel

>three Whispers who carry a gun, a sword, and use fists respectively are Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz
I thougth that was meant to mirror Cloud, Tifa, and Barret.

They summon/turn into Bahamut just like in Advent Children. You're quite right that Kadaj and the others are actually weird mirrors of Cloud and the others, though.

Yes it literally even has scenes directly from the movie in it.

IT literally contains flash forward scenes from the movie so yes. The way Sephiroth acts towards cloud implies that Sephiroth is aware of the events from the original game and AC.

>NOOOOOOOO YOU JUST HATE CHANGE CAUSE YOU A BOOMER, A SHOT FOR SHOT REMAKE WOULD BE SOOO BAD
>ignores that we were lied
>doesn't acknowledge that good changes were actually well recieved

The new strategy of shills is trying to sell the ending as an intellectual masterpiece

Yeah, who cares if the themes of the game are no longer the same! Amirite?

Who cares if it was marketed as a faithful remake? X°D you're just seething because you don't understand Nomura's big brain master plan

there's a cgi from that shitty movie in the "Remake".

>Some have also suggested that the three Whispers who carry a gun, a sword, and use fists respectively are Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz from Advent Children
i wonder if there's another group of 3 people who carry a gun, a sword and uses fists in FF7. If there are people like that who WOULDNT want history to change.... nah.... no one fits the bill

no not at all. there's almost nothing from the compilation in the remake, only a couple nods.

Crisis Core gets more than just a nod.

>Am I screwed if I only played the original and don't know anything about the compilation?
What a stupid fucking question. Remake is not the entirey of the original game, why the fuck would you need to know or play anything else? Think before you post.

RE7 Remake?

It's easy to hate on Advent Children but the core plot is still big swords and jenova cells just like the original game. Meanwhile the plot of the Remake doesn't actually have anything to do with the original Final Fantasy 7

that scene is pretty much a nod. it's not very relevant, and it's not even confirmed that zack is alive. it could be a vision of an alternate timeline, because zack walks right past cloud and they don't notice eachother. the theory about killing the whispers changing the past is retarded because if that was true barret would have died since he was saved by the whispers.

These people haven’t played the remake and are just bullshitting
