You're a nostalgiafag and can't accept change if you didn't like the Remake ending. Accept that things can be different and realize that these characters aren't the same anymore. It's ok to have something different. You still have your original game and just wanting the same story but better graphics is childish and boring.
You're a nostalgiafag and can't accept change if you didn't like the Remake ending...
dude time travel lmao
Tifa's not gonna fuck you dude
you don't know that
You're only defending it because you lack knowledge about the original
I love the original and I've played it several times. I'm tired of it and I wanted something different and I got it. Why is it so hard to accept a different story?
cause it's a retard story about ghosts
bravo Nomura
put Zack limping in the corner
I never even played the original or the remake but i can say that objectively time travel is shitty story telling tool unless we're talking steins gate.
>somewhere along the road of the final or second final game you beat up genesis because for god knows what reason he's around town too
>zack and cloud will have to fight sephiroth in both universes in order to get rid of sephiroth once and for all
>this fight will happen at the same time ala xenoblade
>cloud will finish with super mega uber omnislash
>zack will finish with... slot reels spinning on 3x aerith or 3x cloud
see you in 10 years when this maybe ends
there isn't time travel. Brainlets can't into alternate realities.
It's okay for it to be different. It's still a bad ending. Nothing has consequences since nobody is allowed to die, even Zack. Literally where do you go in games 2+ when you've just physically fought fate? If that's the route you need to take, have Sephiroth do it or some shit. Also, why did Cloud use his 7 seconds to save Zack when at this point he doesn't remember Zack? Why do time ghosts need to save the crew from really normal threats they survived the first time like explosions during the escape? None of this shit is a good ending and to top it all off, the Arsenal, MOTOR, Fate, and Sephiroth fights we're all boring and a sharp come down from the top tier Jenova and Rufus fights
>top tier Jenova and Rufus fights
those 2 fights were also easy and boring as shit
>Fans spend more than a decade asking for a remake of a beloved title
>The company promises to remake it
>It's finally released and takes a huge shit all over the legacy of the original
>Fans are understandably upset by the "remake" not being what they asked
>WHAT THE FUCK? THINGS CAN BE DIFFERENT, LOL YOU'RE JUST A NOSTALGIAFAG.
I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I tell you to unironically kill yourself.
>Alternate realities.
Do you really trust nomura, the guy that created that god awful dumpster fire kingdom hearts, to not fuck this up?
>Literally where do you go in games 2+ when you've just physically fought fate? If that's the route you need to take, have Sephiroth do it or some shit
This is what hurt my butt the most. Next game when we're all level 1 again and fighting rats for 2 Gil, and we come across the Midgar Zolom and are supposed to be scared, I'm going to be thinking of how I fought a time dragon and rewrote destiny
>Alternate realities and alternate timelines are really different guys!
>This reality just randomly started to go off it's strictly destined course, not because of some undue influence by an out of place entity
>remaking game, want to make big changes to the story
>instead of just making changes, make the original script and its adherents physically manifest as a giant ghost that the heroes smack to death
>please look forward to Part 2 in 5 years when we actually start making big changes, or maybe we won't, who knows
Literally the dumbest possible way to do this. Just make it different if you want, lampshading it in the story itself won't dispel criticism from purists anyway, and new players don't know what the fuck is going on. Just let Biggs live or whatever, who cares
PURISTS BTFO
Hi GIANTMONKEYBUTT! Glad to see you reviewed the literature about using periods this time. Did they increase your social credit payouts?
>You still have your original game
"No!"
This is easily the worst video game ever created. This "game" can basically be summed up as padding and filler.
They took 5-minute "dungeons" from the original Midgar and turned them each into hour-long FF13 hallways. Even worse, they inserted all new "dungeons" (hour-long FF13 hallways) in between story beats where the original FF7 would have just moved on to the next story beat. It doesn't add anything to the story or game world. It doesn't flesh out the original Midgar. It's not even fun. You just go down some glorified decorated hallways and fight three guys at a time for 30+ hours. This is not fun. This is not a game. This is a mindless, joyless, and a chore. You actually had to force myself to finish this awful slog.
The sidequests do little to break up the monotony--in fact, they amplify it. They are the most soulless, uninteresting MMO quests you can imagine. At some point I just stopped bothering with them because they add noting of value to this game. They are not fun or interesting.
This isn't Final Fantasy 7. This is Final Fantasy 13 loosely based on Final Fantasy 7. This game does not respect your time. Square Enix claimed that this remake was going to be episodic because the game world was going to be "greatly expanded" and "vast." Midgar is not expanded. It is padded. What happened here is that they decided from day one that they wanted to sell multiple games as "episodes," and then struggled to come up with filler content to stretch Midgar out to 30+ hours. And they couldn't even come up with anything fun. As I said, this is easily the worst video game I ever played in my life.
This is the most soulless, joyless corporate cash-grab ever created, it is a personal attack against video games as a medium, and it is a crime against humanity.
Drop dead.
>fight and destroy the embodiment of fate before leaving Midgar
>this scene will lose any of its actual impact
it will be replaced by some variant of supermega ultra XD behemoth
you can like the visuals, gameplay, etc
but if you think the writing is anything other than fucking mess then you need to kill yourself
I paid money to see the Rebuild of Evangelion and I'm for some reason excited for 3+1. The concept at play here is not one that I'm averse to. The problem is it's actually a bad game. It's deceptive, because the first roughly 4 chapters are quite fun and impressive but by end of the game it's clear that they just stopped trying or something. No part of the Shines building was fun. The AI is shit. The game stretches more than it adds because I guess they think more hours = more fun. It's messy and I regret my purchase. I entertained the idea of using chapter select to go to the arenas and do those matches but booting up the chapter and remembering the chore that it would be to even get to those arenas made me turn it off instead
didn't you notice there is no blood in the remake? Even the blood trail on Shinra Tower was changed to some purple thingy, so I doubt they would even show that on Part 2.
It's ok to have something different but Nomura's writing sucks ass.
Making things more convoluted than they need to be sucks. You can write a different story without time travel nonsense. Subtlety is key. Things could've slowly evolved into a different story, each new and different step being relatable to the audience. Instead we hit destiny with a sword.
Another things that bothers me is that this was the perfect chance for a fresh start for FF7 after having years of disappointing spinoffs and sequels and prequels. Couldn't we just experience this game without all that baggage? I would've accepted a new story if it would at least stand on its own, had competent writing and had an artistic vision. But instead we get this lazily written timeline mess with every FF7 fanfic that was ever published shoved into it.
It's a shame because you can tell that a lot of people who worked on this had a lot of talent and passion. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be true for the director and the higher ups who make the major decision with regard to the plot.
>Filtered.
I'd argue it's possible to not like the Remake ending simply because Nomura isn't as good a writer as he thinks he is. I mean that'd be like saying KH3 was a worthwhile finale to the loads of bullshit leading up to it and anyone who disagrees simply hated Xehanort being a good guy all along. I always try to make that clear when I yell at nostalgiafags because there's hating it because it's different and hating it because it's retarded which are two completely different things. The issue is that the very nature of the ending makes it very hard to discern who hates it for which reason.
remind me when the last time was that anything related to final fantasy had a good story?
well, something or someone must have come from the future to show them the visions... Sending information back in time could be considered a form of time travel too you know.
Its a good game, but I wouldn't have bought it if they had the decency to say "This is not a remake, we are doing our own thing, it will be very different". Now it has to face the issue that people expected a faithful recreation but got Nomuraboozled in the end.
Again, not hating on the game, it was decent, but still disappointed it got the KH treatment and I wouldn't have bought it if I knew that beforehand.
bad story but good writing
haha checkmate
Just last year, Shadowbringers.
>breaking causality isn't time travel
you are the one who is the brainlet
I agree for the most part but you have to admit that it is very weird to not make this be a proper remake (which perhaps has the additional option of playing a different route).
Why would something that is blatantly about providing nostalgia not do exactly that?
Let's say the story was different, yet competently written. That's fine, but it would still be weird because why use the world of FF7 to tell that story? You could just make a new game which has a similar world or characters (if elements and characters of the FF7 world were needed for the story). Then you would avoid the clash with nostalgia.
You're right, but I wish the bubbling purple goop was the only problem with the blood trail scene.
I think the ghost as a narrative tool were stupid. Especially since there were already ghosts in the game. If anything they should have created a new character or a few to act as watchers ala Xenoverse Trunks. I think it would be less jarring. No more "OMG SUDDLY GHOSTS CARRIED THEM OUT OF THE ROOM"
Subtlety is dead. Completely dead. You can't have slow buildups anymore. Not showing Sephiroth in the first 20 minutes of game is impossible, let alone omitting him completely from the Midgar section.
I honestly feel saddened for younger gamers who, understandable, get turned of by the PS1 visuals and will never experience the legit good buildup and story elements of VII.
8/10, but why the fuck did they have to change the story the way they did why are they letting Nomura go rampant
I don't think anybody is claiming that FF stories are masterpieces but surely you can acknowledge that there is a difference between Nomura's Kingdom Hearts cringe writing and the writing of the original FF7 which with regard to the individual dialogue btw. is a lot better in Japanese (I'm currently watching a video series about FF7 translation).
FFgames are not especially known for making sense. But even in X - where the story was about the dream of a dead person traveling to the future to fight his father who had turned into a giant sky-blob (or something like that) - the story might have been batshit insane and the worst one in a FF up until that point in time, but even that is miles ahead of KH.
To add to this they could be a couple of side characters who are revealed to be watchers or like one omniscient watcher who shapeshifts. He could be a person in the slums, a shinra grunt or hojo's assistant who subtlety move things along the needed path.
WHY DOES ZACK SOUND LIKE A HUGE FAG NOW???
>like FF7 for its story and presentation
>remake might be good if they can capture what made the original good with new tech
>hear they're splitting the remake into parts
>fucking stupid, but oh well I'll wait until it's finished before actually buying it
>Part 1 of ??? already shits the bed with the ending
>rest of the story may or may not be fanfic-tier, who knows
Based SE revealing their hand and saving me hundreds of dollars. Reminder to never pre-order
Same reason Evangelion got a quadrilogy of sequel films that were also technically starting out as a remake, it was popular but they wanted to subvert everyone's expectations and try to do something different with things, which in Rebuild's case meaning it takes place after End of Evangelion in a reset timeline (Hence the red water) and in FFVIIR's case it's a case of time travel shenanigans in trying to alter the timeline from its initial path from the original game which is causing the langoliers to screech at everyone.
The whole "let's repeat the past but try to change the future" thing isn't a new concept here, hell Muv Luv's grand finale is all about that, but it's about the competence of the writer moreso than anything here.
Though honestly if you ask me, even if they did a "proper" remake, people would find reasons to nitpick and hate it, and at the very least if they're going all in on the Rebuild route for this series of games that'd explain how three discs which aren't even as long as this one part can be stretched out across several games without too much meaningless padding, as the story can become something vastly different. I was always skeptical of the idea of FFVIIR because I was skeptical that they'd be able to stretch out things like Midgar that far out without it coming up thin, and while there's certainly a decent amount of padding too, I feel like it'd be worse if they didn't add this twist. But hey maybe I'm just too cynical to see a result where FFVIIR came out as the flawless remake everyone expected when from the word go it was planned to be served piecemeal.
It could so easily be made better with just a few changes or redone scenes, that's what makes me so mad.
Honestly, I had hopes. When Cloud was getting chased by the Shinra guards and one of them goes "Hey I know this guy!" I thought that to be a fucking neat little foreshadowing. But I guess the big twist doesn't matter anymore and the game operates under the assumption that you already know the whole plot?
>Even Cait Sith has to come face to face with death.
He wasn’t even alive buddy, he was just a remote control robot for Reeve.
>a new character or a few to act as watchers ala Xenoverse Trunks
All of that is completely unnecessary. If you want to write a different story, just do it. There is absolutely no need to go meta, say that there is already a pre-ordained chain of events and then hit destiny with a sword to change it. Just write the story you want to write instead! People aren't too dumb to understand what a what-if-scenario is. Did Nomura think that if he just re-wrote the story that we would all scratch our monkey heads going "uhhhh but why is this happening? I don't understand! what about the fate of FF7?"
This fourth wall breaking nonsense is like him flipping off his audience, essentially inserting manifestations of real world expectations in the fictional universe of his game just to crush those expectations. It's one of the most retarded things I've ever seen.
What I'm confused about is why you're trying so hard to defend the game. The people who hate the ending will usually still agree it's anywhere from a 3-4/5 game. There were many little flaws that added to it, and the story was mostly fine up until the last 2 or 3 hours or so, so overall it was still fine. Of course there would be people upset over the story being changed, especially when they now have to wait probably 5 years to see it finished - and that's if we're lucky. We actually have literally no timeline for when the rest of the story's being done, or even how many parts there will be. Last we heard it was possibly supposed to be a trilogy, I believe?
Then again this happens at every big release. People are upset about portions of it, and migratory niggers come pop in to the board for their 2 weeks of damage control, then peace out until the next big release. Just the same ol' cycle.
What you said about Eva Rebuild being “sequels” is bs.
