They are overpriced and you look retarded using one, the "on the go" mentality is not for gaming, and you look like a faggot using one

Prebuilts are cringe
They overheat frequently
Trackpads are shit
Laptop keyboards are shit
Can't upgrade them, just have to buy a brand new one every 2 years

Overpriced, shit cooling and shit battery life

Shit cooling primarily, but hey girls won't think you're cool if you have a desktop, so go for it bro.

fpbp. "on the go" is a faggy phrase used by bugmen with such incredibly short attention spans that they must be able to play vidya in every single situation

1. Overpriced
2. Inferior hardware, downthrottled or Max-Q style design to meet PSU and temperature demands
3. Always run hot despite previous concessions
4. Fewer IO
5. Inferior Screen
6. Chiklet Keyboard
7. Case designed poorly, and assembled worse.

The only people who would benefit from these expensive, powerful laptops would be DJs/Music Producers. Why would I want to game in a public place looking like a spazz with my headphones, mouse and all that shit?

Imagine all the worst aspects of a console for quintuple the price.

They’re people with lives outside their home, so Yas Forums hates them. The poorfags also like to screech “overpriced” despite ignoring the fact that with a laptop youre not just paying for specs, you’re paying for convenience, portability, a keyboard, a monitor, etc.

Weaker computer at higher cost, most have heating issues but good laptops have no problem.
They're only worth considering if you travel a lot.

They are fine if you have a lifestyle where you move around a lot, but if it's gonna be on your desk 90% of the time, or you're not playing games while you have it on the go, it's not worth it

>They’re people with lives outside their home
Not if all theyre doing outside their home is playing vidya on their 10lb laptop lol

just get an old optiplex and throw a gpu in it. bam, better than what you'll get from most laptops and consoles for only 350 buckos.

>not building a system tailored to your specific needs
prebuilts are the antithesis to pc gaming. if you go prebuilt, you might as well just get a console instead.

gaming laptops ar garbage but for some reason I wanna check out getting a SFF PC and seeing what I can do with it.

good for a long deployment in military, or in any other case where youre going to be in a location away from your home for an extended period of time.

Expensive, non modular (kinda) and they have a tendency to overheat.

based as fuck for old games, I play gamecube games on my ubuntu x220 every day

Surface Book 2 (13.5 in) is kino for emulation and shit like Dolphin/Project M and also media consumption. Also could do some light gaming like Halo MCC, CS, and now Valorant. I'd wait to see what the Surface Book 3 has to offer this year though.

Super expensive for what they are, can't be easily upgraded like a custom PC and gets fucking hot.

Please nigga. Everyone gets the same build lmao

Mine usually last 5. I get buy them because I can bring it to work and play games there in my down time or when I travel.

They're really not overpriced, especially not recently. If you want to talk overpriced, we should talk about Apple.

Good for long visits to family. And good for bringing to friends houses vs lugging a tower.

An ok gaming laptop found at a decent price makes a great spare pc. Spending a thousand dollars on one as your main "rig" is retarded.

Try running your gaming laptop for 8 hours straight of playing a demanding game.

they make my balls sweat

Gaming laptops are the handhelds of PC gaming.

Because Yas Forums doesn't leave the basement. Gaming laptops are great of you are always on the move and need something for work. Something like college, military, firefighters, traveling for business a gaming laptop would be ideal. But if your doing a regular job and coming home to game a regular PC is better.

Because they're not the things they like and more importantly own. That's as far as the actual "hating" crowd goes. I think most people don't actually have any fucks to give about being emotional over the gaming laptop vs desktop argument.

You can't handheld a fucking laptop no matter how small it is.

Loud as fuck and run hot. I got a laptop for work with an 8750h (high priced not cheap either), and while rendering/playing anything the fan is a fucking turbine and i have to use noise cancelling headphones. If theres anyone around me then fuck their ears.

This, Eluktronics Max-15 is a great priced laptop with good specs. They are releasing a new "covert" line without any logos too with a 2060, 240hz screen with thin bezels, i7 10th gen, good battery, and light weight for around $1600. I'd say that's the perfect laptop to use a mobile alternative when traveling to friends/family

>Why does Yas Forums hate them?
Yas Forums isn't a hivemind with 1 opinion.

>Spend 3 grand on a gaming laptop
>Actually completely worthless in 8 years
>Have to spend 3 grand on a gaming laptop again

If you spent 3 grand on a desktop, you'll always have a solid base to upgrade from.

Useful if you travel a lot for work, are backpacking or just move around a lot. Pretty useful too if you're a university student.
It's nice sitting on a train, in an airport or on a flight and killing time playing vidya while other plebs are sitting around with their thumbs up their asses.
Handy if you go to LAN parties a lot too cuz saves you having to go through the bullshit of setting up and moving a mountain of shit. Can just grab your laptop and go to your mate's place.

They are expensive. They do overheat (can get a cooling mat for $10 that'll drop temperatures by a good 15c). They do have worse specs than a desktop. They do have shit battery life. The trackpads are shit (they've always been inferior to the Clit Nub in old laptops). And yes you cant upgrade them.
But if you're working FIFOs like most people do these days a laptop's your only option when you have to wait 2 weeks to get home and play vidya.

Take care of your gaming laptop, keep it cool and it'll last you 6-8 years easily. I just recently upgraded to a desktop PC this month but my gaming laptop's been going solid for 6 years and still has plenty of life in it.

This. No one wants to hear the god damn fans- including yourself. Getting everything you want in a single laptop is nigh impossible. G-sync or free-sync screen? Panel type? Max-Q videocard? Touchpad? Speakers? Everything is so fucking PERMANENT with laptops. The first thing you're gonna want to do is open it up and repaste whatever shit job they did with the thermopaste, if you can, so that's "fun".
