15 only used uppercase for grammatical correctness in his training, so that probably won't affect the intonation at all.
Your best bet is probably exclamation marks, repeated tries (since the model is non-deterministic), and also giving additional context that you can cut out in post. For example, "Holy shit, what is that!" might yield a more panicked/loud tone than "What is that!"
Generally though, yes, the inability to give emotional direction is one of the biggest weaknesses of this tech compared to real VAs right now. Hopefully as the tech improves things like emotion tags will become available.
