seems like they wanted to get the base game out and since if you're playing the game without cheating a ton of the content you wouldn't see for months anyway they planned on adding it in as updates around when people would get it? like the holidays being added at the holidays?

Because they spent all the time on the foundation and now they can build off of it. You think its easy implementing the BOTW weather system and slowing it down? or the lighting engine they made?
