humanoid bosses are usually the best in games like dark souls. it involves less bullshit since we're so accustomed to human movement and actions, so reacting or guess/assuming how a move will hit is more intuitive.

Bosses never made these games good. DS3 is a boring, linear, lazy game meant to play off the coat tails of BB.
The combat was never the focus in DS. Yet, every other aspect of the game is worse than Dark Souls 1.

DS2 was a mess in most aspects but at least the 'RPG' side of it was solid and you could make any build work well enough. I was really hoping DS3 would build upon that but instead its basically grab str/dex/quality melee weapon and roll, everything else feels like an afterthought.

I think people have this idealized view of what ivory king is like because the lore and aesthetics are cool. Gameplay wise? It's not that good.

Give it a chancs. As far as challenge goes, Ds3 and Bloodbornes's DLC is easily the hardest "soulseborne" content.
