The only FE characters who were warranted additions to Smash were Marth, Ike, and the Awakening characters. Roy, Corrin, and Byleth are all shameless attempts to market the newest FE game (at least Byleth’s game has been out for a while before being added but still the inclusion was decided well before the game released). I don’t understand why no other Nintendo series gets this treatment in Smash. Even Pokémon doesn’t get a character from their most recent games until a couple years after it’s out.
Also for what it’s worth way too many of Fire Emblem’s important characters that they would consider are Marth expies made for the sake of tradition. They need to start looking at characters that aren’t the first/main player character you get because it sucks when they try to showcase characters from different games but intsys has made the same character 13 times because it worked the first time.

The Links in Ultimate look more differently than the FE characters do. Effectively the only difference is that they just have different names.
I'd argue that Ganon(the pig, not the fat falcon) Skull Kid, Zant, Midna, Vaati, etc. are important remembered, and offer something more new than a FE character would.
Will 3H be remembered 5 years from now? Probably. But not because of Byleth.
