Makes sense to be honest.
A Pro model isn't really something that makes sense at that point. The Switch isn't that old yet and telling people to upgrade with some games maybe not working on older models anymore would just kill the momentum the Switch has.
But a "Mini.-Switch" which comes with an additional screen people could use for optional features? Why not?

it's gonna be based off the switch lite, but smaller and 2 screens, clamshell design.
It will support all switch games, but have some switch ds "exclusive" games. however if you have a regular switch and switch lite, you can play these switch ds exclusives anyway.
it's intended to succeed the 3ds and will focus on lower budget games.

The PS4 Pro released 3 years after the PS4 launched. It's time for an upgrade. Not an exclusive one, but an upgrade is needed since PS5 and Series X are coming very soon. Switch can't afford to survive off of indies and first party titles like the Wii U barely managed to do.

phones want DDR6, phones drive the market, switch is gonna have DDR6 in the current basic model just like the basic model is using newer hardware than the original model

So it's probably a box that plugs into the dock and allows you to use the Switch screen and TV screen at the same time. If that's the case, they'd better sell an upgrade kit for people that already have a switch.
