As insane as the ending is, it'll undoubtedly spark tons of debate and speculation for months to come, until the reveal trailer for Part 2 hits, and then speculation really gets going. The cool thing about it, is that instead of knowing beat for beat how the rest of the chapters are gonna play out, we genuinely don't know what's gonna happen, and in a way that's refreshing.
There's a chance it could suck for sure, but I think it's more likely that when this Remake is completed, there will be things it did better than the Original, and there will be things it did worse.

Because the game is actually good. It's not perfect, but the good stuff way outweighs the bad. Also, FF7 has always had a God Tier selection of waifus and Cloud/Barrett/Aerith is the best love triangle in gaming history
