Most references are actually funny and most of the time they either piss the NPC off or don't really do much

they are just there to give you a laugh without actually expecting you to pick them

I don't even think they're the best choice, but the Legion is such a pleb filter. It's like they can't imagine a harsh wasteland full of radioactive mutants and raiders, and how conforming more to traditional gender roles could greatly benefit survival. I'd say it's unironic privilege, but it's more like a complete lack in critical thinking skills.

Vicious Wastes increases the difficulty
>radiation actually lowers your max health
>drinking from sources out in the open or in abandoned buildings have radiation penalties
>enemies do much more damage but you do more damage as well
>enemies actually use cover and will spot you from further away, they won't either stand like idiots while their friends are getting sniped

I have really bad ocd in this game I can’t even get past doc Mitchell’s house without retreating because I messed up on my character or I wasn’t paying attention during the opening (even though I’ve seen it a billion times)

Honestly after seeing the shitshow that was The Outer Worlds, FO76 and the new survival craft shit that Obsidian is releasing i'm entirely convinced that New Vegas was just a happy accident and that we won't see something like that again, all that i can hope is that some crazy group of fans will try to recreate a game like it

Obisidian used to be a lot better, user. Go play KOTOR 2 and Alpha Protocol. And even the first PoE has its moments. It's just that talent gets rotated out, especially after they got fucked out of their bonuses for NV, and even the talent that remains, i.e. J.E. Sawyer, wasn't even really involved with the Outer Worlds.

Obsidian's main problem right now is writers.
John Gonzales and Chris Avallone have both gone.
If they put Josh Sawyer in charge of another New Vegas/Outer Worlds, then the gameplay and systems would be great, but he's not up to the task of writing the whole game.

Isn't George Ziets gone as well? He was responsible for the majority of NWN 2 - Mask of the Betrayer writing.

Avellone had next to nothing to do with the vanilla game and his greatest contribution to the DLCs he did was fucking Bear Bullman
