TTYD is a middling sequel that started the "dude paper lmao" shit, introduced broken mechanics like superguarding and annoying ones like stage/audience interactions, dumbed down the badge system by increasing the BP cap and making it easy to stack broken ones, and of course, is loaded to the brim with backtracking and padding.
The only real element it has over 64 is the writing and story. Everything else is a step back.

Undertale would be a good game if it's 'story' weren't so bad. Everyone who parrots that it's the best thing ever needs to read more books and experience life.

MMOs are a relic of the past because devs aren't limiting players enough. I honestly believe they would be much better if servers were open for a small amount of time each day like say from 1pm to midnight.
No bots and hackers farming in the middle of the night while the staff is asleep.
No 3am pvp raids if there's a form of region/castle/whatever capture.
GMs are always on while you're playing.

Why would I say TTYD it’s not called that it’s Paper Mario RPG, says so on the box. The reason the series went to shit after Mario Story is because dumbo westerners ruined it calling it Paper Mario so Japan turned it into the stupid shit it is today

Undertale is a textbook example of how a strong enough concept can carry poor execution. The combat system blows, but the idea behind it is really cool, so a ton of people praised how good it was. The music is bad, but the leitmotif pushing was cool, so everyone nutted in their pants over the soundtrack. The story was awful, but the metafictional approach was an interesting, so journalists and reviewers the world over praised the storytelling.

If it's proof of anything, it's that you don't need to make a good game. You just need to create the idea of one, and players will fill in the rest.
