bumping this bc Im looking at the store page intently
hunt showdown is better and much less autistic.
It was god tier but the last updates completely ruined it
Do you know anything about this game apart from how it looks? It's not a battle royal, it has nothing to do with battle royal.
Since when did big maps and pvp became synonymous with battle royal? I suggest you go watch some gameplay/introductory videos.
If you don't mind waiting 20mins between runs to scav, because unless you're some kind of fps god or a smurf, everyone whos already been playing will be in a better spot than you, and your pmc will be hard outclassed.
No, it's an incomplete game with dogshit UI and mediocre performance. I wish I could refund it.
Its not a bad game, but the chinks got a hold of it and now there are way more hackers than there used to be. Also people are hacking so they can RWT shit for money.
Are you one of the zoomers that confused this game with a BR/looter-shooter?
>dogshit performance
>lag
>chinks with 500 ping
>cheaters (but i'm repeating myself)
>retarded xp system with skills (you run twice as fast at level 51 than you do at level 1, etc.)
>devs who don't even play their own games, or any game for that matter. they just listen to streamers
All that for a measly price of 110 euro. You decide for yourself if it's worth it.
I've been playing since 2017 and I can tell you that it is 100% not worth it in it's current state. Devs are incompetent, it runs like shit because it's unoptimized, servers regularly break and lag horrendeously, you learn to live with your screen locking up for 3-5 seconds during firefights, Chinese hackers and farmers are everywhere, and it's just a mess right now.
The retarded devs decided to make the game more and more about grinding and farming with every single update. A lot of people don't even play the game like an FPS anymore, they just do loot runs avoiding all fights while sprinting to the best loot locations. If you play normally it's aggravating because you will never ever get this loot, since they will be long gone before you ever reach it. The devs themselves basically sold out to the chinese, who buy account after account to farm money so they can sell it for real life cash like it's gold in WoW, which people bite on to because the economy is so incredibly fucked. Gunplay and customization seems slick at first, until you realize that half of the mods/ammo/guns are literally useless. Flea markets are full of bots, games are filled with cheaters, it's misery all around.
If you must play wait until there is a wipe (Basically they reset everything for everyone so people all start fresh) so you're on an even playing field. If you start right now you WILL get destroyed in probably 99% of firefights you get into as they laser in on your head with zero recoil fully automatics shooting the best ammo in the game.
Pretty much this, now is a terrible time to pick up the game with it being so far into the wipe that you'll stand no chance at the game and be forced to just do scav runs till the next wipe. Plus hackers have become a massive problem that they refuse to admit is a problem. Overall the game is a mess with systems barely working as they're meant to, bugs upon bugs upon bugs my favourite being that if you mess with any of the video settings it can fuck up your view causing your shots to go no where near where you're aiming, devs don't listen to the majority of the community and only to streamers
I'd recommend looking at non-biased raw gameplay footage and making your own decision.
Nope. Elite skills are beyond retarded
At the moment?
Not really.
When the next wipe hits?
Maybe.
Or just look up /eftg/ on /vg/.
it's basically a PVP simulator, BR simulator with loot added. Extractions are just the same concept as winning first place in a BR. They could have made the game into one big map but I guess that would have been too much work.
Game is fun but there is a huge learning curve.
You wil get your assed kicked a few hours before you git gud.
I wonder why streamer scum never got into stuff like elite dangerous when they eat stuff like this up?
>OP asks "in comparison to like battle royales and dayz"
>BATTLE ROYALE? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BATTLE ROYALE??! IT'S NOT A BATTLE ROYALE DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT?
tarkovbabs get as mad about the BR tag as star cultists get about being called scam and vaporware
fucking hilarious
To answer on topic:
>terrible 16 tick netcode
>peekers advantage out the ass for whoever runs higher ping
>enemies in gunfights look like they're stuck in the past most of the time
>stutters out the ass
>freezes whenever the shit engine decides that loading effects of getting hit is just too much too handle
>painfully unresponsive and bloated UI
>armor and penetration mechanics means 95% of the ammo is useless and will get you killed
>remaining 5% render the entire system pointless because they cut through everything
>rpg-lite skills giving nolifers an insane advantage completely detached from personal competence or gear
>bugs gallore but it's ok tovarish is beta alpha early access since 4 years
>gunplay that boils down to sights wobbling all over the place until you dump money into meta attachments (and leveled those realistic immersive rpg stats) at which point guns turn into laser rifles
>retarded recoil system that >>automaticallysights completely misalign at anything but tunnel vision 50 FoV in a shooter proclaiming itself to be realistic gun porn incarnated
If anyone tries to convince you that tarkov has THE BEST gunplay of any game they're blatantly lying
>Is this worth the price?
Absolutely not. Not even worth it if the price was cut by 75%.
most of the enjoyment comes from the buttclenching tension you feel at any moment because its open world and you can get oneshot at any given moment. The weapon customization and sound design is also neat but other than that there isnt much else, its really a game for hardcore fps players and its also one of those games that attracts a lot of hackers. If you think youre relatively good at shooters i tell you its not even close to enough. You might get out alive once in a while with a little scrap but most of the time youll just die before you see whos shooting at you. And dont even get me started on the quests, its ridiculous. Every quest is basically "go to this highly contested area where theres always 20 people around, then either stand out in the open for 10 seconds trying to loot some key or go to this door and make a lot of noise trying to enter, then make it out alive".
There is some fun to be had, especially running around as an NPC but the quest system and the overall progression system is just very lackluster. There is nothing really to play towards and unless youre really good at fps' youll just be cannonfodder.
escape from tarkov is a zoomer game you low iq zoomer
No. It's not worth it.
It is interesting, the animations are great, you really feel like a cool STALKEResque tacticool shootah, but you have to constantly fight with the game itself as well. Not only is it unoptimized as fuck, you will take two steps forward, two steps back. As soon as you made a loadout you like, it only takes one death (or a disconnect, or a buggy mess) to lose hours of progress, and you're forced to using half-broken AKs until you get another loadout, rinse and repeat.
Is it coming to steam?
Soon(tm), Tovarish. And by soon we mean never because then we'd have to accept refunds
Pretty much.
Most of the time you die, it'll be to stupid shit like this. Where, you stop paying attention for half a second and some guy hiding in the darkness not making a sound will gun you down because you looked left rather than right.
>Worth the price
I got into it three years ago and got more long term entertainment out of it than from any AAA title released in that time. That said you need to be autistic about guns and embrace your inner slav/stalker to truely enjoy it. DayZ veterans usually feel right at home as well. If you are gonna drop it after a week or two then it is a waste of money. If it's to your taste it will keep you busy for months at a time. Wait for sale when it is 25-30% off. If you are gonna buy it only get the basic edition. You can always upgrade later.
>Current state
The massive influx of new players around christmas/new year has finally stopped so servers are no longer on fire all the time. Cheaters and hackers exist but are relatively rare outside of high-tier maps like Labs. Player count and matching times are good, no complains there. Performance is still spotty though the devs have recently fixed a GPU-related config file after some redditor told them about. Client side performance increased by 20% across the board. Desyncs, network issues and server crashes are still a thing though not so much that they ruin every match.
The gameplay is intense and stressful, no other shooter gets like this. Night raids during a thunderstorm are full blown horror games.
Maybe when it hits v1.0, so not before 2025.
I don't know who thinks it's fun playing a game that constantly punishes you and renders all the time spent building up your loadout obsolete. I understand it's "hardcore", but S.T.A.L.K.E.R is much more leniant without losing that slavic hardcore edge. I wish there was a game mode where you can just choose a loadout and go PvP, without all the looting tetris bullshit.
The highs really would not feel as high if the lows didn't feel so low.
But, honestly, at a point you end up with so much money that the only thing left to do is busywork.
I constantly lost money, because I'm a pleb who needs to git gud. I don't mind the process of improvement, but the game loves kicking a nigga when he down. I don't see how this game will keep a constant 10k+ playerbase when the gameplay loop is a masochist's wet dream.
