To a certain extent, I agree, but you've been able to do this the entire series, including bonding with and falling in love with the characters and pairing them off for gameplay bonuses. Only difference now is that this is a main part of the game that's heavily necessary. You can like the characters i don't mind, but you are a part of the problem if "bonding" is much important than the series theme and reputation. SMT was always a demonic game then SMTIVA is a fucking waifu game thanks to Fatlus hiring new staff. And it's not just SMT, DeSu and Persona was also the victim on this, DeSu was the spiritual successor of Majin Tensei, SMT with Ogre Battle. Persona was all about Tarot Card Megaten but with everyday life problems, now look how we are now.
I rather see my favorite series takes a long hiatus like Megaman than seeing transforming into something that i can't even regonise.
