Why the fuck didn't this game get more shit for its awful soundtrack?
They fucking butchered the soul of RE2 for the sake of being yet another serious modern horror game with minimalist music. Even RE7 knew that you don't fuck with the calming save room theme because that shit *is* Resident Evil, hearing that calming music when you're safe is a core part of the DNA. It speaks volumes that the fucking original soundtrack (which they sold as DLC) still sounds better despite being made for a game in 1998, almost as if Capcom knew that they fucked up the OST.
Autistic soundtrack discussion aside, is this game worth buying?
It's been sat in my basket the last couple days

The only thing that I disliked about this game, is that normal (this was my first RE title, I played on normal, pls no bully) is more like easy. Even though I had never played an RE title before, I got through this one with very few deaths on my first run. After I finish CV, I'm gonna go replay all of the scenarios on hard, because this game is fucking great, and I liked the soundtrack (but I also hadn't played original RE2 at the time)

REmake2's soundtrack is so bad that it actually manages to even make the level design worse.
In the original lots of rooms had very distinct music which gave them a lot of personality and made them easier to remember, this also just made the level design more memorable as a whole; because your brain can split up individual areas based on their music. The lack of distinct music in the remake makes rooms blend together, going from the main hall into the library isn't this noticeable shift in atmosphere and tone; you're just walking from one area into another.
Even Breath of the Wild with its minimalist soundtrack knew that towns needed noticeable music to make them separate from each other.
The soundtrack is actually good if you listen to it on youtube It's just shit in the game because they have it turned all the way down for no reason and it only plays once ever It's a complete fucking waste R3make soundtrack is 10/10 and one of the few things that 3 does way better than 2

FF7R makes a similar mistake in that most of the music is either remixes of the same few songs or super ambient. Uematsu's score doesn't work in that context.

I actually got genuinely angry when I turned on the lights in the save room and the theme played a little short distorted tune and then disappeared forever.
Evan Nelson
REmake2 nerfed the difficulty, the original games had saving with ink ribbons as the default.
Thomas Stewart
While I personally disagree, I still recognize your great taste and choice of song. You can't go wrong with almost any song on the soundtrack honestly.
Yeah I noticed when I started playing the original, and it's a lot better, and it adds so much to the actual survival horror atmosphere that you can't just save at any time. I gotta say, I thought it was going to be jarring playing the originals, but I much prefer them (I still liked REmake 2), and I actually replayed 1 right when I was done with it. Really glad REmake 2 got me into the series.

Someone actually got paid to make this shit
Cameron Williams
>reach the rpd in re3 remake > the save theme is actually a save theme with an awesome remix >it even loops properly instead of playing only once
They didn’t have to do that but I greatly appreciate it
Justin Thompson
Yes. Don't play the original RE2 first.
Asher Martinez
I was pretty butthurt too

The actual save room theme of this game is so full of soul I prefer it to the original. You can hear it in its entirety in the model viewer mode.

REmake butchered RE1's music too.
Xavier Robinson
it stayed more true to the og soundtrack than remake 2 did

>Someone actually got paid to make this shit
Not only did that dude get paid, he also claimed to be totally deaf since he was 25 which was a complete lie; and most of his work was actually made by a ghostwriter from which he stole credit. Those themes are two of which he actually made himself, by the way.
REmake1 is actually a perfect example of modernizing the soundtrack while still staying true to the original. REmake2 didn't even try to invoke the original.
