Lads the more time that goes on the more I begin to understand that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is actually potentially the best game of a generation.
It has been a week since I've finished it (Early copy) and it still so resonant and I see more why even the ending is actually brilliant after digesting it for a while. Loving it more each day.
It actually has so many layers that need to be properly understood, to call it anything but a flawed masterpiece is not doing this project justice.
Let's get out of the way the flaws, yes they advertised the game towards new players as well as people just wanting a 100% fateful experience. But such is a small price to pay for true creativity.

I called it from the start that the autism rage over the ending would just be a phase. This game will only become more and more popular and well-liked over time, as long as the devs don't fuck up Part 2.
Evan Wright
Graphically, yes there are some texture bugs, whatever, don't be like Ted Costanza and care about the small and least important parts of otherwise perfect experience. When it mattered it was visual showcase of brilliance. A treat for the eyes even in this era of amazing visuals.
Liam Martin
I can understand why some purists would rage over the ending, but it's not that the ending is bad it's just because they don't want what it entails.
But the ending is excellent. But please devs, continue this genius.

Sound wise, this game is probably taking over the top spot for greatest video game OST of all time bar MMO games which have like 10 games worth of music.
It's music heaven and everyone who could wanted to make music for this game, it's filled with expert variety and arrangements, even has Hollow rounding out the experience.
Gameplay is the best it has ever been in this 30 year franchise, faithful to the original and still so much they can do to expand on latter parts. Boss battles are a joy and you can even use crowd control effects on certain bosses opening up options. The better you play, the better you prepare means the better you preform in battle. It all has meaning.

The characters are so faithfully realized and so organically expanded upon while is totally fitting the characters that lived in our minds. But now there are surprises and hurdles anew that await us.
The way they managed to speak in half-truths in order to see their vision is awe inspiring.
They managed to accurately say that Remake would be a new story that is not bound by the compilation, but you think that it is unaffiliated then. But in actuality they give a nod to the history of FFVII respectfully, using it even to cement the changes, before blazing their own trail to a brave new world.

You aren't going to get many replies on this thread, because it's not a bait thread.
FFVIIR is a piece of art that transcends the mere realm of video game story. It is a living, breathing, evolving piece of art that for 23 years has been taking it's aging player base and makes them feel like it's the 90's again or the 2000's.
A game that helped us understand ourselves and our identities, how we fit in in all this. Memories that will last us lifetimes both in and out of the game, maybe you played it with your sister like me, maybe you remember eating a pizza while hearing the background chatters of your family or a beloved pet while the sun shined.
But time only moves forward, the past has all the treasures of our life that will never change. But going forward, we will see where the road takes us, where freedom lies. Once again we will mosey to a land we have been promised, once again we will say our hello's and goodbye's but perhaps by the end we will have remembered something precious that we had lost along the way of growing up. The awe of mystery and being taken on a ride, Barret said it best after all.

I'm done for now, but it was a fun week. Can't wait for Part 2. Purissts sperging out makes the whole thing even more enjoyable.
Once again your eyes are fixated on the past. The past is perfect. No matter how much you focus on it it wont change, no matter how much you try to compare crumbs you merely have to look up and see the Goliath and bright future that is in front of you, ahead of you.
You can look at it and don't worry, the past won't change, but you might a little for the better.

Based, we are merely at the beginning of this long train journey.
I honestly feel for purists, I thought I was one of them up till 2 weeks ago when I got what I actually wanted, not what I thought I wanted.
But if what I wanted was true, I could imagine feeling pretty upset about it. But I've played FFVII 1000 times and I'll play it again, but I'm fixated on the future now.
This is easily the worst video game ever created. This "game" can basically be summed up as padding and filler.
They took 5-minute "dungeons" from the original Midgar and turned them each into hour-long FF13 hallways. Even worse, they inserted all new "dungeons" (hour-long FF13 hallways) in between story beats where the original FF7 would have just moved on to the next story beat. It doesn't add anything to the story or game world. It doesn't flesh out the original Midgar. It's not even fun. You just go down some glorified decorated hallways and fight three guys at a time for 30+ hours. This is not fun. This is not a game. This is a mindless, joyless, and a chore. You actually had to force myself to finish this awful slog.
The sidequests do little to break up the monotony--in fact, they amplify it. They are the most soulless, uninteresting MMO quests you can imagine. At some point I just stopped bothering with them because they add noting of value to this game. They are not fun or interesting.
This isn't Final Fantasy 7. This is Final Fantasy 13 loosely based on Final Fantasy 7. This game does not respect your time. Square Enix claimed that this remake was going to be episodic because the game world was going to be "greatly expanded" and "vast." Midgar is not expanded. It is padded. What happened here is that they decided from day one that they wanted to sell multiple games as "episodes," and then struggled to come up with filler content to stretch Midgar out to 30+ hours. And they couldn't even come up with anything fun. As I said, this is easily the worst video game I ever played in my life.
This is the most soulless, joyless corporate cash-grab ever created, it is a personal attack against video games as a medium, and it is a crime against humanity.
Probably not. Should I just be spamming shit like Infinity's end for max dps since his stagger is so fucking long? My biggest issue is he auto aggros your player character and it makes it a pain to build up ATB.

At least put more effort into your shillposting and engage. Posting 'X is good, it's just really good' is weaker than posting 'Time jannies are good because it was a totally unexpected twist from the remake of a game who's story was known and who's fans just wanted updated graphics, If Ryan Johnson's Star Wars movie has taught us anything as a modern and enlightened audience, it's that subverting expectations is in and of itself quality story-telling"

Wow lad you really don't like anything to do with the motorcycle music, almost all of them are to do with it in some way.
Also I can understand how you might not like the first Motorcycle theme though it's very appropriate the start of the game. But not like Midgar Expressway, shit taste lad.
Also posting the meme song Hip Hop de Chocobo which is intentionally stupid...

It's not just the fact it isn't a straight remake or the whole meta angle, it's that it's all delivered in the dumbest way possible. That ending was straight out of Kingdom Hearts, Nomura has proven yet again he should never have been more than a designer, he thinks a compelling story means just throwing in random shit. I'd be a lot more on board with this pseudo-remake if it was being done by someone with a mental age above 12.
Infinitiy end I find it better when they are 160%'d.
Just push with big spells, any element. Keep up Barret Triangle versions and keep it piling on. Can always use Berserk punisher or something. Hard to know without knowing your full setup or how you play. Generally speaking if you push your own game play you can make it.

this is what we waited 15 years for, expanded midgar
