Do a lot of people still do heists in GTA Online?

Do a lot of people still do heists in GTA Online?
I haven't played in a while and am currently replaying through the story mode, and the heists were my favorite part in Online.
Just noticed four new heists have been added since launch and I was wondering if it was worth the hassle trying to get a team together

The new heists suck balls all of them

most decent players have moved on to only heisting with friends or solo grinding

heisting with randoms is hellish these days

the new heists are very different from the old heists.
Doomsday:
>trilogy of heists
>all long as fuck
>each setup has a prep to add extra steps
>enemies are bullet sponges to the point of elite enemies wielding miniguns and bomb suits
>can be done with minimum 2 players max 4 as opposed to forced 4
Diamond Casino:
>players get to plan heist stages
>all setups replaced with minor fetch quest prep missions
>heist itself plays out differently depending on plans made at the start (approach, escape, gear, etc)
>2-4 players again
>extremely high payout if done well
Do with them what you will.
To answer your question though, the GTA:O playerbase is divided into 3 categories now.
You got the freemode fags who just use super OP shit to fuck with people. Then you got the people who listen to reddit on how to make money which ends up with doing the various different kidns of businesses in freemode, the 2 previous groups often fuck eachother over because of how grief-friendly businesses are.
Then you've got the extremely small and isolated group of people who do heists. The issue is actually finding people for them since everyone is super anti-social and do their own thing with their own groups now.
Another big issue is how the old heists used to require you to own a high end apartment, these new heists require different buildings. Doomsday requires an underground facility and location of it is extremely important, if you need to source a vehicle in the city you'll waste a lot of time bringing it back to your facility that's all the way up in Paleto Bay. The cheapest ones go for more than a million dollars, you'll be paying more than 2 million for ones in non-shit locations. Same thing goes for the Diamond Heist needing an Arcade, those go for 2 mil too.

The new heists are okay for a playthrough or two. But if you wanna get into them make sure you've got a friend with you already.

god fucking damned I thought I would be good with my apartment & yacht, since IIRC people said you'd need the yacht for new heists

heisting with randoms was always kinda hellish, I would heist with "friends" but gtag crew seems dead as fuck & the thread is gone, and the people I knew outside of gtag also long since moved on

in what way? just the bulletsponge thing other user mentioned?

/gtag/ transitioned to /rsgg/ to accomodate rdo

it's mostly rdo discussion these days but there are still some gtao players around

>got really into GTA:O awhile back
>finally set myself up to start making money to buy equipment to get to endgame heist content
>get my motorcycle IRL stolen
>after that GTA hit a little too close to home so I stopped playing it :(
The cops actually ended up finding my motorcycle and it was still in decent condition so now I’m fine with playing GTA again

Is it worth trying to get back into the game? I want to do heists, but I don’t have friends that play it

heisting with randoms years ago when it came out was fucking awful.
the fucking prison heist took me hours and hours to do cause I kept getting paired with retards who don't know how to play. on top of that, the constant connection issues and people demanding bigger pays for zero of the work.

>people said you'd need the yacht for new heists
They lied.
You can do the base heists with randoms perfectly fine, sure they might not speak english, sure they might not know the shortcuts, but it can be done and it can be very buzzword still.

Enemy npcs and their godly autoaim jfc

>people said you'd need the yacht for new heists
Nope, you may as well should have just wiped your ass with the money spent on that thing. Yachts do absolutely nothing and are the biggest pointless money sinks in the game.
>heisting with randoms was always kinda hellish
Yeah but these new heists are worse. Doomsday requires near perfection with how balls-the-the-wall hard some of the setups get and the final finale is a borderline raid.
>just the bulletsponge thing?
Not him since I'm the one who posted the wall of text above but I'll weigh in.
Doomsday is hard as fuck. each setup is almost as bombastic as the finales to the old heists and get tough as fuck in some scenarios demanding near perfection. You can imagine then how wild the finales to each act can get too. Even though my buddy and I played the old heists religiously, we have only played through Doomsday twice. it's long and hard enough for us to never want to touch it again.
Diamond Casino on the other hand is just simple and honestly boring, I only played it through once and have no interest in playing it again. maybe it was just my choices that made it boring though.
There's also every chance that user is someone who just came into the thread to shit talk. but to take his side, the heists can be pretty shitty at times, just like the old ones.
also this guy is right .

look at .
You could get away with randoms in the old heists but get fucked if you think the new heists will be playable with randoms.
Good to hear you got your bike back though bro.

well on the bright side, looks like money won't be an issue

oddly enough that sounds exactly like what I liked about them. I don't like mindlessly grinding easy content, I want to do challenging content. It's the reason I kind of got disinterested in Destiny 2, most of the people in d2g weren't very interested in doing the challenge mode versions of the raids, since it barely gave any extra reward if any at all, so they didn't see the point.

>mom dating some neighbour
>his car got stolen
>they go to cops but obviously no expectation of it ever getting found
>it gets pulled over in france due to corona not allowing cars from other countries in, and it still had the license plates from over here
>only reason they ended up getting car back is because of corona
world's a weird place

>Diamond Casino on the other hand is just simple and honestly boring, I only played it through once and have no interest in playing it again. maybe it was just my choices that made it boring though.
It's really boring if you take the safe choices, which is unfortunately the meta. Gruppe Sechs Big Con literally takes you straight to the vault, grab the loot, go up a couple sets of stairs, done. Yawn. It's when you break from the norm and try the different approaches, or pass up some of the preps, that things get more fun, even if it doesn't make as much money.

>car took a vacation to France
That’s crazy

Motorcycles almost inevitably get Shanghai’d, and mine was gone for months, so I expected it to be long gone. I was even at the DMV registering a new motorcycle when I got a call about it.
>the bike was found on the side of the rode on Christmas Eve
>the thieves installed an ignition switch so I don’t need to use a key (they broke a screwdriver off in the ignition)
>despite being gone for months, the motorcycle inexplicably had no extra miles on it
>the retarded thieves ground all but the last 4 numbers of my VIN off the bike
>the last 4 are all you need to identify it
>they also put under-glow and apple stickers on the bike for some reason

any suggestions on what I should end up buying btw?
it seems like there's so many new things that I'm kind of overwhelmed (offices, bunkers, hangars, clubhouses, motorcycle clubs, businesses, warehouses, etc.)

Offices or MC Clubhouses are a good start for moneymaking, afterwards you'll have access to the jobs they offer, then you can supplement that with crates or product*(start with cocaine, it's the most profitable) which is when the real money starts coming in, then you should aim for a Bunker or Nightclub

*Office and MC respectively, will require purchasing an additional property, game will explain it fine.

Why are the ai so strong in the new heists? i can die in a sec if i leave the cover.

>oddly enough that sounds exactly like what I liked about them
Well shit that's a fair enough arguement as any, you might be able to get some fun out if then if you can convince a buddy to reinstall for a run.
Maybe get some good luck on a random or two. Go have fun when you can bro.
just scout out some of the underground facilities though, there's a site to bring them up in-game and just drive around to see what the areas are like, get one you like the spot of.

Huh, alright you've given me stuff to think about.
Coincidentally I'm pretty sure Gruppe Sechs Big Con was exactly the combo I went for in my run.
Also coincidentally just like OP I'm playing through the singleplayer and am planning on getting back into heists with a buddy afterwards.
I'mma try a new combo in Diamond when I get back into it. Thanks bro.

it's been a while since I actually touched online. From memory most of those kinds of things are for grinding for money, I never really cared for money grinding though sicne I just did heists and modded a shitload of dosh a lifetime ago so I'll just talk about actual reasons to get them
I'd start with an Underground Facility or Arcade so you can do the new heists.
I can't remember if it's essential anymore but a Bunker (after some additional investment) will let you make some MkII weapons that have some more customization and will let you mod up a couple old vehicles with some more military gear like more armor and a minigun on top of an insurgent.
A motorcycle club can get you some extra perks like instantly spawning bikes which is fuckin absurdly OP with an Opressor.
Otherwise if you really plan on getting back into GTA:O in general for long term then listen to .

you forgot one group
Glitchers/Hackers
the actual chads of GTAO that told Rockstar to go fuck themselves with their shark cards and ridiculous pricing

Trouble therein is determining the difference between the good natured ones and the ones who just want to explode everything they can.
I've met plenty of both, the former are true chads and great fun to have around, the latter not so much, but maybe on occasion they pull off something spectacular.

personally im the former one driving around the city in my festival truck blasting East Los Santos FM

based minigun moneybaggers

I wanna experience most if not all the content I can, "crates" which I assume are from warehouses sound like some freeroam mission if I understand correctly, which sounds pretty cool.
Do I need hangars now to store planes or whatever? I like just flying planes around and thought I already purchased some & had them stored, but not sure if they changed how it works

>hangers
you can buy a hanger and store any air vehicles inside and customize them car style.
You still have all your old planes and shit, they work exactly as they used to. These new ones can just be upgraded a little and there's heaps of new planes with new customization for weapons and stuff, they have new missions for them too but I never touched them.

basedviva is lurking this thread

>These new ones can just be upgraded a little and there's heaps of new planes with new customization for weapons and stuff
fuck that sounds dope as shit

wonder if I can get a hangar, a facility (underground thing) and an arcade for 5.7m, didn't expect to need THIS much money

>mfw I still have his birth certificate saved from that time he posted it in /gtag/

who?

exceedingly obnoxious tripfag that also posted on /tf2g/

no one you need to concern yourself with

>/gtag/

Now that's a thing I haven't heard about in a long time, do we still blame Blater for everything?

Hangars are on sale this week, you can net the cheapest Air Base one (plus mechanic) for about 1.2mil, and wait until the next discounts (Thursday) before deciding on your next thing.

You can probably get 2, or all three if you take a couple of shitty locations. Hangars can be kind of sneaky because, on top of the base price, you also have to pay another million for its meme workshop in order to actually customize the planes and not just store them. The missions also suck for making money, but can be fun with an organized group.

Only as a meme, he's a tired king. The discord is the latest boogeyman as far as I know.
