Somewhere inbetween
Why always extremism?

You really had to make a thread to ask a question? You couldn't ask it in one of the many FF7 threads up right now? You stupid fucking double nigger.

i was thinking a scale but good point

This game seems fantastic from what i saw on youtube, Yas Forums is just being butthurt for no reason

It's decent for the most part, but the problem is largely with the last few hours of the game shitting the bed and other smaller details that add up and show a clear lack of understanding for what was beloved by the original.

It's a bastardization, it's a sequel that fucks with the original story.

For example you don't even meet Sephiroth in Midgar in the original but in this game he holds your hand and does all kinds of other retarded bullshit. It's fucking garbage as a remake.

"remake" "sequel"
hmmmmmmmmmm

Look, you cant discuss new games on this board because its filled with gatekeeping hipster faggots who are experts on everything despite the fact that the only resource they have is the faulty memories of the games they've played.

Having said that, Remake is fucking excellent and so the original. If you haven't done so, you really need to have played the original as there is a lot that won't be understood, especially during the last few chapters.

Alright Yas Forumsirgins, you can commence with the menstruation frustration about something, something, reddit spacing, and something, something, marketeer.

>Why do you make a post in which I pasted too? Use the search bar!
>Thread locked
Fuck off forum faggot

Every other piece of info I've seen posted on Yas Forums about this game has either been a blatant lie or a shitpost. You're not going to get any valuable takes about this game out of this board for atleast 3 months. In that time I suggest you either play the remake or play the original and then the remake, otherwise you're going to get a bunch of ideas in your head based on false information and then go through the whole game waiting to be mad at things that didn't exist like I did.

im typically not big into jrpgs, the only one that held my attention long enough to finish was smt iii. is ff7 difficult?

The things they did change don't make sense. Fighting seems to take too long and it's definitely padded. Everything else I guess seems okay. Depends how much you loved the original ost.

It's basically pic related. It's not a remake of FFVII, it's FFVII: Remake. You should play the original first since Remake is an alternate universe/sequel. As for the game itself, it's pretty good.

Not him but no. As a huge FF fan, the difficulty is not the selling point and SMT is far harder, none of them are remotely difficult.

It's really fucking retarded. Basically it's a remake/reboot but without knowing the events of the original game, the prequel, and the sequel this "remake" wn't mean anything because Sephiroth is from the future of the original game. Time travelling retarded bullshit.

Attached: 1586651313265.webm (1280x720, 2.08M)

SMT is way more difficult. You should be fine. If you aren't feeling it you can always watch the cutscenes on YouTube. I found it helps me to get through these older games if I mentally visualize what's happening like I'm reading a book.

The ending is complete bullshit with time travel and alternate dimension fuckery
until then it's pretty faithful beside some things but original is still way better even if only for the better pacing

no wonder people are butthurt

>Fighting seems to take too long
That's because you aren't using the right loadouts and party setup. Use the asess materia and you'll figure it out.

There are some difficulty mods for FF7 on PC if you're looking for difficulty, otherwise no.

In the first part it's like 1 to 1, in the end it goes somewhere else but the essence of the story/meaning it's the same. I really liked it a lot, and i loved the original one.

>In the first part it's like 1 to 1,
I fucking wish.

Attached: 1377279621717.jpg (777x738, 78.12K)

Oh ok. I tried VI but i lost interest pretty quickly, mostly because I didn't feel as engaged. Thanks for the perspective

>Time travelling retarded bullshit.
I like how in a game with talking dogs, people who can throw fireballs, machines that turn ghosts into electricity, and eldrich horrors from outer space, the line is drawn at time travel. What you are describing is a You problem.

to be fair time travel muddles up stories because of the logical inconsistencies typically present

This is a mod I see people talk about often
forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14938.0

So what's the best way to play the original?

Play the original already, jesus christ dude

>decent remake
"No!"

This is easily the worst video game ever created. This "game" can basically be summed up as padding and filler.

They took 5-minute "dungeons" from the original Midgar and turned them each into hour-long FF13 hallways. Even worse, they inserted all new "dungeons" (hour-long FF13 hallways) in between story beats where the original FF7 would have just moved on to the next story beat. It doesn't add anything to the story or game world. It doesn't flesh out the original Midgar. It's not even fun. You just go down some glorified decorated hallways and fight three guys at a time for 30+ hours. This is not fun. This is not a game. This is a mindless, joyless, and a chore. You actually had to force myself to finish this awful slog.

The sidequests do little to break up the monotony--in fact, they amplify it. They are the most soulless, uninteresting MMO quests you can imagine. At some point I just stopped bothering with them because they add noting of value to this game. They are not fun or interesting.

This isn't Final Fantasy 7. This is Final Fantasy 13 loosely based on Final Fantasy 7. This game does not respect your time. Square Enix claimed that this remake was going to be episodic because the game world was going to be "greatly expanded" and "vast." Midgar is not expanded. It is padded. What happened here is that they decided from day one that they wanted to sell multiple games as "episodes," and then struggled to come up with filler content to stretch Midgar out to 30+ hours. And they couldn't even come up with anything fun. As I said, this is easily the worst video game I ever played in my life.

This is the most soulless, joyless corporate cash-grab ever created, it is a personal attack against video games as a medium, and it is a crime against humanity.

Drop dead.

1. original hardware on a CRT
2. emulated
gap
3. PC version with mods
gap
4. PS4/switch version

Ruining the story they were saying they were remaking with Nomura-tier time travel is a bullshit thing to do. You're a fucking spaz for defending it.

Either emulate it of play the modded PC version(pain in the ass but it would look better, but be buggier).

Attached: tifa dies.webm (1276x678, 2.75M)

Emulated is better than original hardware because original hardware would have retardedly long load times.

It's really neither, it was bold enough to change the gameplay and add some stuff, but was too pussy to change stuff enough to make a lasting impact. Starts with a bang, ends with a whimper. Well, more appropriately it start with a cannon bang and ends with a toy gun whimper.

i love how you have to specify crt because that shit looks awful on a lcd

That's like saying Star Wars movies should have dimension hopping and fire breathing dragons because the setting already has magic and space samurai.

yes, it does. PS1/PS2 games look quite rough on LCD in general but the crust on FF7's backgrounds looks so bad without CRT fuzz

That's not the point, the point is that the only ones who can tell what the fuck is going and where it's going are only people who can tell what the fuck was going in FF 7 besides environment good. It's actually inaccessible to people who never beat FF 7 (aka average PS4 owner)

>dude fuck internal consistency lmao

I'm not saying something with similar content SHOULD have time travel or alternate dimensions. I'm just saying getting all worked up about it when it happens is silly.

It's a sequel you need to play the original

"I'm the author i make the rules"

>It's actually inaccessible
If you have the means to play a new video game you can hit up some wikis. You can even play the original. Seeing as it runs on a toaster there's really no excuse if someone is lost.

>I'm a bootlicker, I defend demakes.

Its good until you realize the plot isn't the original plot and you get an "expanded", aka padded out for 30-40 hours, part of the original game that lasted like 5 hours max in the original that didn't feel like it needed to be "expanded" at all in the first place. Oh, and also the fact that parts of the "remake" plot makes no fucking sense unless you played the original game in the first place.
So I'd say, just play the original. Would recommend the PC version with mods if you want to make it look nicer, or emulating it.

>expecting internal consistency in a jrpg lmao
>thinking your capable of of your own standard of consistency roflmao

There's a really fucking good ~12 hour game without an ending here. Unfortunately, they tacked on about 20 extra hours of pure garbage and a 9th inning twist shitpile ending

isn't ff7 like 50+ hours? pretty big time investment just to be caught up

>>expecting internal consistency in a jrpg lmao
It had it until the remake.

>padded
It never ceases to amaze me how so many people on this board have no concept of subjective reality.

>your
damn it feels good to not be a dumbfuck

I agree. If I hadn't played it 20 years ago I know I wouldn't now.

You asked if it's a good remake, and no it isn't. It's some fucked up piece of fan service that no one asked for. Parading as a remake when it isn't because SE is desperate for cash.

Fuck off shill.

i am re-playing it now and also the dialogue are the same one to one.

Don't you have essays to grade? You're students must really feel let down by you're lack of dedication.

PC FF7 has AI up-scaling mods fixing the backgrounds to higher resolutions.

That alone warrants attention.

internal consistency is needed to tell a coherent story, otherwise the audience can just assume that the character can do anything

>the line is drawn at time travel.
This is actually the situation for a lot more people in more mediums than just video games, user. People tend not to like time travel in movies, books, and TV shows too. It consistently ends up being rife with problems. Even Back to the Future, one example which more people do love, has a lot of problems if you put a little bit of thought into the plot. Adding time travel to an existing story to remake it in your own image is a really ballsy move, and one that they had to have known would make a lot of fans angry.

It's not the same at all, most things are completely different in fact.

There is no fucking time travel. Stop complaining about games you have not even played, bitch.

>you can hit up some wikis
No you can't, wikis just provide very basic plot bullet points and never provide appropriate context, it's literally impossible to do. And besides, games should never require you to look up wiki, fucking Lord of the Rings is not inaccessible without reading the Hobbit.

>you can even play the original
Ah, so to play 50 hours RPG to play 30 hour RPG depending on how leisurely your pace is, to get an experience the game's name suggests. Not to mention, it's actually problematic to just play the original outside of emulating or buying PS1 version because most ports are shitty ports of a shitty PC port from the 90's. So you either have to settle for shitty modern FF7 port with botched music or play PS1 version with shitty localization. Either way, playing FF 7 just to play FF 7 Remake is a terrible point to begin with.

what was their last game? ffxv?

>shill
There it is. I'm not a shill for Square, but rather your sister. She said she'd stop rimming you if I didn't promote this fantasy game and we all know how cranky you get when you aren't getting enough family time.

It's something you shouldn't play without playing the original.
