Sephiroth is Lucretia's son. He was injected with Jenova cells in the womb and subject to experiments later on.

He was dropped into the Lifestream by Cloud at Nibelheim, and ended up in Northern Crater. Either he or Jenova is manipulating all the other Jenova-cell-experiments (the Random Number dudes in bags / Cloud) to bring him back to life.

played this game once, back in the day... don't remember shit, only that the gameplay was lacklustre, the story was cool and engaging and that in the final fight only tifa survived and beat this faggot to a pulp.

All I know is don't go looking for answers in Crisis Core.

That game is a narrative train wreck.

Well, not really, the story is there but really dumb and tries to be greater than it is.

>Sephiroth is Lucretia's son

Don't forget Hojo is his dad too.

Why not just play it and find out?

is Vincent a cuck?

At that robo-crab boss in the subway currently. Looking forward to seeing the closing but not before having a good time in the Wall Market.
Thanks. So why did he crystalize when basically no one else does when in the lifestream? And how do we go from
>Sephiroth is this looming dangerous spectre in the world
to
>Sephiroth is in a crystal up north and has been for a long time

Sephiroth isn't like anyone else so obviously he wouldn't "return" to the lifestream since his origin is from a different world. And no one knew Sephiroth was crystalized until halfway thru the game since he used the test subjects as a way to project himself over the world.

Did you even play the game?

It's unclear in the original game (partially because of the shit translation) but the creators have stated that Sephiroth is the one controlling Jenova.

Think of Jenova like a force of fucking nature. It doesn't have a personality, care about people, or want to fuck with cloud. It just has a goal to fuck the planet until it is able to ride the planet to another planet. It's a fucking virus.
In that sense, sephiroth is controlling everything that doesn't explicitly work towards that goal and using jenova to say fuck with cloud and get cloud to give him the materia and shit. Jenova isn't that smart (probably.) That's all high level strategy shit. That's sephiroth.
They're symbiotic

>Jenova is an alien monster that crash landed up north
Correct
>Sephiroth and Jenova are somehow synthesized? Is one puppeting the other?
Yes. They are synthesized because Hojo injected Sephiroth with Jenova cells while his mother was still pregnant with him. It's not clear who is puppeting who and whether Jenova is the one in control or Sephiroth is. Most people generally believe Sephiroth is the one in control because otherwise there was no reason for Jenova to not start controlling him at an earlier point in his life. The whole reunion only happens when Sephiroth learns of his origins.
>Why is Sephiroth in a crystal up north
It's not immediately clear how he got there. It was after the Nibelheim incident. He was presumed dead after Cloud forced him into a pool of Mako at the reactor near Nibelheim.

>Jenova isn't that smart (probably.)
Sort of is, though. Didn't it use mimicry specifically to fuck with people's minds?

This is pretty close.

Here's the core of FF7 lore.

Essentially, Jenova is like a cosmic bacteria or mold. Its highly morphogenic and nigh immortal. It basically just cruises through the void for millions of years in stasis until it crashes into a planet.

The Ancients are the humans that evolved on Gaia naturally through normal evolution. For this reason they're connected to the planet and the Lifestream (collective soul of the planet and all native life). Jenova crashes into Gaia and and starts spreading like a nasty-ass mold. Ancients that were brave/foolish enough to get close are transformed into hybrid's. These hybrids are the ancestors to the modern humans. They have small amounts of Jenova cells in them and less natural awareness of the Lifestream.

There's a great war between the Ancients and Jenova. Jenova is 99% destroyed. It's core goes into stasis. The Jenova/Ancient hybrids out breed the Ancients and the Ancients are almost driven to extinction over thousands of years.

FFW to around the start of the game. Shinra has been fucking around with the Lifeforce and discovered Jenova parts. They mistakenly believe this marvelous creature are the remains of an Ancient. They start fucking with the cells. During the early days of these experiments roughly 30 years before the game, there's a Turk named Vincent and his pregnant girlfriend Lucretia. Her boss Hojo is a serious creep. He injects Lucretia's fetus with a shit load of Jenova Cells to see what happens. This creates Sephiroth, the first SOLDIER. At first these cells bond with the small number of Jenova cells already in normal people and enhance Sephiroths powers significantly. Considering this a success, Shinra does this to an entire team of guys, using a small fraction of the amount of Jenova cells, then flooding them with Mako energy. These guys are SOLDIER members. Other creatures injected become monsters.

yes

In the original Sephiroth was always in the Northern Crater since he traveled there after Cloud dropped him into the Lifestream, presumably being a Jenova lifeform made him inimical to becoming one with the Planet.
All the Sephiroths Cloud and friends find are the numbered guys who also had Jenova cells. The exception being the one who kills President Shinra, I think that one was literally the remains of Jenova becoming reanimated, breaking out and transforming into Sephiroth.

It always struck me that Jenova doesn't really have any intelligence of its own, it's like The Thing in that it replicates the behaviour of whatever lifeform it's currently copying/part of. Sephiroth just became the dominant iteration after the original was sealed by the Cetra and therefore the extended whole acts on his psychology with him being the core of the whole.

>Sephiroth will never be that swole again

>there's a Turk named Vincent and his pregnant girlfriend Lucretia.

Why do you tards always get this part wrong? Vincent wasn't dating or fucking Lucretia. He wanted her but things never happened. Hojo fucked her, she got pregnant, and they BOTH decided to inject the cells. Vincent was just along for the ride and powerless to stop it.

"GENESIS COULD BE HERE", he thought. "I've never been in this mountain town before". There could be GENESIS anywhere". The cool mountain wind felt good against his exposed chest. "I HATE GENESIS" he thought. Those Chosen By The Planet revebrated the entire Shinra SOLDIER truck, making it pulsate even as his jenova infested, mako infused blood circulated through his thick, powerful veins and washed away his (merited) fear of homosexual j-pop idols after dark. "With a truck, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.

>>Why is Sephiroth in a crystal up north
Probably has to do with the fact that a lot of Lifestream is gathered around the Northern Crater in order to "heal" it. Sephiroth possibly drifted up somehow there after falling into the Mako. Alternatively he somehow got himself there intentionally, since it's explicitly said he's using the Lifestream energy gathered at the crater to restore his body.

I forgot how did Vincent became a were beast and was sleeping in a coffin inside the Shinra mansion?

even after 20 years, it goes over people's heads that Vincent is actually Sephiroth's father, and that he had an affair with Lucrecia hence Hojo going assmad and locking him up.
Hell, they even go out of their way to give them near identical facial features

Hojo bullshit. Isn't his transformation also Jenova cell experimentation shit?

Sephiroth completely dominated Jenova, which it is questionable how much sentience the parasite even had, so whenever you interact with 'a' Sephiroth it's always 'the' Sephiroth even if he's driving a shell/surrogate. It's explained in the Ultimania and interviews. It was never supposed to be ambigous.

>I didn't pay attention to any of the games

Good job.

is sephiroth a mermaid tranny?

Reminder that fucking Dirge of Cerberus is canon.

are you retarded? Dirge all but confirmed it as a fact

>Cont.

This continues until roughly 25-30 years later, when a low-level grunt named Cloud journeys to the Nibblheim Reactor with superstar badass Sephiroth, now a jaded career soldier.

Jenova is a lot like The Thing. It's parts are all connected as part of a singular super organism no matter how separated they are. There is a large Jenova piece in the core of the reactor. Over the years the massive amounts of Mako being poured into the Jenova piece are partially revived it. Being this close to such a large piece of Jenova that is borderline conscious affects Sephiroth's mind.

While staying at the Shira safe-house/mansion in town, Sephiroth discovers the secret laboratory. He then begins reading about the experiments. He mistakenly believes that he is one of the Ancients. He is driven mad by this revelation. He burns the town and sets out to free his "mother." Cloud chases after him. He meets Sephiroth in the reactor and surprises him by stabbing him through with his sword. Sephiroth falls into the exposed Lifestream and Cloud collapses.

Sephiroth and the Jenova hunk are carried by the Lifestream to the Norther Crater, which is where Jenova first crashed and where most of it's cells are located. Sephiroth dreams in the Lifestream there communing with Jenova. He continues to feed on the Mako energy there and his Jenova cells rebuild his body. While there his mind psychicly connects with the other Jenova cells in the world, those injected into members of Soldier. This drives them insane and they begin to lose themselves to Sephiroth's influence. Sephiroth takes over them using them as avatars while he sleeps.

Meanwhile, Cloud is found and taken to the Mansion/lab where he's experimented on. Hojo dumps a SHIT load of Jenova cells and Mako over Cloud just for the fuck of it. This partially breaks Clouds mind. His friend Zack then helps him escape. Zack is killed and Clouds fucked up brain uses Zack's memories to reconstruck his mind.

>When Vincent spotted a document left on Lucrecia's work monitor telling of her time working with Grimoire, he confronted her and she revealed her culpability for his death. Vincent—not seeming to think Lucrecia was responsible as much as she did—attempted to console her, but Lucrecia was overcome by guilt and sought Hojo for comfort.

>Lucrecia married Hojo and became pregnant. They agreed to use their unborn child as a test subject for the Jenova Project by implanting him with Jenova cells in the embryonic stage. This had an unexpected side effect: Lucrecia was frequently in pain and experienced visions of her son and the future atrocities he would commit.

Now fuck off you uneducated faggots.

Jenova is puppeting Sephiroth. Don't listen to the people who say its the other way around. Jenova calls Cloud a puppet and Sephiroth repeats the same lines at the end of the game. Sephiroth is the puppet.

>citing wiki
el oh el

>various wikis that cite Dirge of Cerberus

Top fucking kek. Troll harder, assmads.

>Sephiroth isn't like anyone else so obviously he wouldn't "return" to the lifestream since his origin is from a different world.
Despite him being a jenova hybrid, wasn't it mainly just willpower? In the very end when Cloud beats Sephiroth in his mind/in some other plane, it struck to me that you see Sephiroth finally fading away and joining the lifestream. He becomes red "lifestream tendrils" that end up joining with the others and turn green.
I figured it was an undeniable implication that he finally passed on.

FF7 story is pretty good ngl

>He meets Sephiroth in the reactor and surprises him by stabbing him through with his sword. Sephiroth falls into the exposed Lifestream and Cloud collapses.

Zack chases after him, gets beat, and Cloud, who also chased and arrived after this, uses Zack's sword to cheapshot Sephiroth, and then gets impaled himself.

Advent Children proves your theory wrong.

I just wanted to point out that DoC is canon, just to remind you all that the current canon is all kinds of fucked.

There's little to suggest that Jenova is anything more than just an alien parasite without real sentience, the whole "who is in control" thing is moot. Sephiroth IS the incumbent Jenova, which is why all the remnants follow and obey him.

>Cont.
Jenova is a super organism. When separated it pulls back together. Unfortunately, EVERY human not an Ancient has SOME of Jenova's cells in it, and SOLDIERs have a TON. The Jenova Reunion is those cells being recalled to the central Jenova core as it prepares to awaken. So all humans feel "weird" and restless and all the former soldier members are being pulled to the Norther Crater.

Sephiroth, in the many years he's been dreaming in the Norther Crater, has learned WHAT Jenova is(presumably by sharing it's "mind" in stasis) and that he is largely part of it. He resolves to ensure that HE becomes the central piece during the reunion which will allow him to preserve his consciousness and BECOME Jenova. He also concludes that once Jenova consumes the Lifestream he/it will become what we would think of as a God. Sephiroth's goal then becomes to become God. It's difficult to say whether this is Sephiroth's will or if Jenova is already acting through him.

Meanwhile Cloud is ALL KINDS OF FUCKED UP, from having his body and brains completely submersed in Cthulhu jizz and he starts to lose his mind a little bit. When Tifa finds him, she's genuinely curious about this guy she always had a crush on. She knows somethings up and decides to keep him around to find out more.

Now your'e all caught up to the beginning of the game.

>Ancients that were brave/foolish enough to get close are transformed into hybrid's. These hybrids are the ancestors to the modern humans
Wrong. Ancients infected by jenova turned into monsters. Humans were an Ancient offshoot that decided to settle down and lost the ability to 'speak' with the planet.
>there's a Turk named Vincent and his pregnant girlfriend Lucretia.
Probably worth mentioning that she got pregnant from Hojo lmao. Vincent being Sephiroth's father wasn't a terrible fan theory with how cold both are, though.
Jenova influencing Seph and being part of why he goes insane in Nibel isn't really confirmed but really helps with the idea.
The nature of Jenova is just vague as fuck outside of the The Thing parts.

count cuckula

Here's your reply.

>Advent children

Canonical Cuck

>So all humans feel "weird" and restless and all the former soldier members are being pulled to the Norther Crater.
>Unfortunately, EVERY human not an Ancient has SOME of Jenova's cells in it, and SOLDIERs have a TON
Nice headcanon, retard.
It was never confirmed that ALL SOLDIER's have jenova cells. Actually a large majority of them were just mako showered, Zack included. Hojo put J-cells into Cloud and Zack only after Nibelheim.

>kids taking the word of a badly translated game as gospel while ignoring everything else made by the company and creators of the fucking game

You can't pick and choose your canon, buckos. Its all or nothing.

Aren't humans just Ancient that settled and lost the ability to speak to the planet? I recall this from the original game.

>It was never confirmed that ALL SOLDIER's have jenova cells.
They do, Cloud outright states that the Sephiroth clone and SOLDIER procedures are basically the same. That's right after he regains his mind and is explaining to the rest of the party his story in the highwind.
Here's your second and last (You) from me.
