It was good, but not as good as everyone makes it out to be. A big problem was that the game's main theme, death, was too strongly associated with its characters that it left little room for expansion. Every party member had the same character arc and were very interchangeable between each other. They lacked depth, and everytime the writers teased a personal conflict, they failed to commit. Aigis is the best character because her development in the plot is interwoven with her social link, whereas the other party members have problems that don't service them to the same effect.
Strega has the absolute worst writing I’ve ever seen in a video game. The are so many plot points about them that just get dropped (being able to bring people into the dark hour, assassination website, Nyx cult) and their motivations don’t make any fucking sense. Why were they trying to stop you from killing the full moon shadows I’d bringing about the fall was part of their goal? How did they find out at the end that Nyx was coming? Did Ikutski tell them? Why didn’t he tell them that the full moon shadows dying was what they wanted? They’re so poorly thought out and the fact that they keep pestering you and three character arc relies on them is makes them even worse

This. Whenever someone talks about Persona 3, I completely forget Strega existed until they're brought up in conversation. They only really existed to pad out the game.
I still like Persona 3 better than 5 though, even if the game play of 5 is better. I think that 3 just has better themes.

Ken is a kid who's mom was killed by a party member and Akihiko was pretty much forced into becoming a child soldier and lost his sister to the shadows. Defend Naoto getting herself kidnapped despite being a SUPER SMART DETECTIVE

I don’t see why gets toted here a lot, there’s really not a lot that happens that separates from P4 and P5. You fight the same “monster of week” every full moon, like you do every couple months in P4 and P5, until you reach climax except with P3 nothing is progressing. The characters don’t change, they don’t learn anything (aside from that one time during the 3rd full moon boss), and the plot isn’t advancing. You could essentially remove any one of them and it wouldn’t make a difference in the story or characters. And then at the end you get pushed into a climax, which again isn’t that much different from the others. It’s revealed someone you trusted is a actually the bad guy and you have to defeat them and then the godlike being. P4 and P5 do this in a much more interesting way though, at least better than not Kaworu who you barely even interact with
They're backstories are different but the only time they change from who they are at the start of the game is when Shinji dies. These aren't characters, these are concepts.
Going to have to disagree with you there. P4’s themes about how media, rumors, and false information can alter what people actually see and what they want to believe and P5’s themes about how injustices are overlooked because people would rather give into apathy than change the status quo are done in a much more interesting way than P3’s surface level “looking we’re literally fighting against death, do you get?”
3 have a straightforward forward theme and message....it literally gives it away in the intro... Jesus Christ

5>3>4 5 is literally the only one with fun dungeon crawling. Best music too. Story wise 3 beats 5 but holy shit is 3 a fucking chore to play. Fuck tartarus, and fuck having nothing to do at night past a certain point in the game.

>Best cast Literally every single one of the characters is mentally retarded
Nathan Fisher
I fucking despise the P4 cast, only Kanji and Rise are cool
William Davis
I dont care about any of these opinions theyre all good, just post more toaster.
I really wish that Adachi and Ameno-sagiri were the final boss and they fixed the themes up a bit. making the gas station attendant the final boss was fucking stupid. there should have been more foreshadowing for it to work I think

3>2>4 PS2>5>4 Golden Anyone that puts 4 anywhere near the top is a legit manchild. The best thing about 3 is how independent the characters felt. Mitsuru, Akihiko, Yukari, Ken all intersected but none of their arcs had anything to do with the player. Same with Junpei and Chidori or Fuuka and her bully. The only main arc that does affect the player is Aigis' since she's thr main heroine and her relationship with the MC represents the main theme of the game the most. The reason P3 is so great is thwt waifushit andbsociallinks were basically noncanon and every main character for their full arc away from those (That's also why the animated adaptation is better than P4's and P5's. The game was written as a cohesive story and the waifushit s.links were added later as gameplay bloat to keep you busy between story beats) P4 on the other hand makes EVERYTHING about the player. You spend the entirety of P3 seeing thenother characters dealing with their shit. In P4 you never see any scenes from their perspective. No scenes with just Chie and Yukiko. No scenes developing Yusuke and Teddie. Kanji and Naoto never interact despite having the set up for the best dual character arc in the series. It's all about the MC solving everything. He's literally a Gary Stu. In P3 Junpei gets laid. If he was in P4, his crush on Chidori would be just a running joke to humiloate him, and she'dshe's be a romanceable S.Link, and thus much less interesting. P4 ruined the series and P5 further buried it.

It was only fresh because P3 did it and that anime archetypes weren't so diluted back then
>Themes /= Presentation The way Persona 5 present it's main theme, compared to P3 or P4, is the weakest by far, adding that with how the characters had absolutely no synergy with each other, I can't understand how someone would prefer P5 over any of the other entries of the series (apart, of course, of the superior gameplay).

P4 is legit garbage aimed at emotionally stunted manchildren. P3 is the only game after P2 that is legit great and memorable.
3 has the lowest lows (tartarus) but the highest highs 5 is consistently solid with the only big issues being the story being all over the place and mementos 4 is consistently mediocre but has best girl Chie
Jayden Jenkins
I know what the theme is you don’t have to tell me, it’s not as deep these retards think though

P3 takes 40 out of 50 hours to fucking start. If you say it's good, you are literally braindead
