Tfw still no reason to upgrade from Windows 7 in 2020
new motherboards dont natively support windows 7 so your USB ports wont work unless you download the usb drivers online using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard. thats the only reason I can think of to upgrade, windows 10 is so shit
Upgrade to Linux
Linux has games now
it still doesnt support even half the software I use on a daily basis so thats gonna be a no
>Linux for consumers
That's a no. If you aren't running a server, it's not for you.
unless you do creative work this is a meme excuse that isn't even true
>no reason to stop using outdated shit
Yeah, maybe.
People who cling to outdated software are really weird.
I'm still using 7. Still the best OS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Windows 10 is literally broken and MS isn't fixing it.
Just slip them into your iso bro.
Just going to keep using 7 until I build a new computer, which will probably be awhile.
but user windows 10 is so bad even though it's basically exactly the same and it has malware and i'm going to ignore the fact that microsoft has had nsa malware injected into every version of windows for decades
Updated to 10 and the only difference I notice is the start menu I never used anyway.
I'm not running a server, and Ubuntu does everything I need including vidya
Dumbass
Same, its nice to coast on 8 GB of RAM.
Windows 10 isn't horrible.
Linux has had games for decades, but with dxvk it basically has all the Windows games that matter now. It's never been a better time to ditch Windows.
Then don't.
For gaming the upcoming DirectX12 Ultimate with ray tracing is kind of a big deal. When the next gen of consoles hit ray tracing will start to pick up.
Security is another big reason, Windows 7 is going to turn into swiss cheese with no more security updates.
There are also some fantastic productivity features like virtual desktops, being able to set your default audio device by program, and clipboard memory.
Windows 10 is pretty good now and it is time to consider upgrading or doing a new build and upgrading.
Microsoft ported DX12 to Windows 7 though.
Feels good man.
Not him, but he's right. Just two examples of software I used on a daily basis that aren't supported and don't have equivalents: Honeyview and ShareX.
same
Forza Horizon 4 is the only reason I would upgrade to Windows 10
wow i really hope you aren't actually so dumb that you think linux doesn't have an image viewer or a screenshot program
It does, but they're all shit compared to these two. None of them function half as well or have half as many features.
Pretty sure I can't use DLSS 2.0 on windows 7. Not a huge loss since not many games support it yet but in the future I wouldn't mind the fps boost.
>honeyview
>poor mans MangaMeeya
Only for a few specific games, explicitly integrated by the developer. Unless the developer expects lots of their game's users to still be running Windows 7, they aren't going to bother supporting DX12 on Win7.
I want everyone to get along
But most importantly I want to protect Nanami's smile.
>But most importantly I want to protect Nanami's smile.
Still got the forced upgrades?
Still got the spyware?
Still got the rushed dev cycles with non-existent testing that break half the computers on the planet a couple times a year?
Still got the shill armies that swear that none of these things are real problems and/or you're a luddite if you complain about them?
Nah. Have had Mint on my laptop for 2 years and when this desktop dies I'll never be on Windows again. Last resort I'll go to Apple. If it means I get locked of playing then so be it, nothing of value was lost.
linux is a meme server OS for trannies
My dad built a Windows 10 PC a few years ago. He refused to buy a disk drive, so when he tried to install his wireless card, he had no way of installing the drivers. I had to insert the disk into my (Windows 7) PC, copy the drivers onto a flash drive, and then install them on his PC for him.
Remember, kids: old technology isn't always a bad thing.
