I started to play FFVII around the time I was 4 years old, in 2000. In the Remake, I'm past the scene where that turbodouche Roche appears for the first time and I'm having an honest blast, to the point I'm becoming anxious of touching the game when I'm in a bad mood, because I don't want to waste any good times with this game. It'd be like trying to go to a party when you'd rather lie down and cry thinking about how fast the last six years went by. While you the memories are unbeatable and the original remains a classic, the Remake is, so far, fantastic too.

I heard the game gets super retarded in the last 1/4th of the game, so hopefully it doesn't piss me off too much or turn me off from future episodes. But I ain't holding my breath
I have so many dear moments about the original since it was so closely linked with my childhood. Playing Remake is kind of painful at times because those golden years will never come back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I played the original 4 years ago when I was 16. Never finished it because, honestly, the game sucks after the first disc. Don't care for the remake. Slow and dragged out. I enjoy the bits when all the characters are together and actual story stuff is happening for once.

This thread is kinda cringe, this muh childhood stuff is straight from reddit. FF7 is a great game i give you that but folks give it too much credit, i played it around 2002 in the ps2 my first game was X. The remake is disappointing but i expected nothing less from modern Square Enix, i liked the combat and seeing the characters interact in HD is great. That's all.
Played it when I was 7 or 8 in 98 or 99. I played 7, 8, and 9 all in that era in order but I definitely didn't get 7 and 8 on release.
Remake has fun gameplay, some of the new stuff is good but a little too long. A whole chapter of muh Jessie backstory is a bit much, along with Roche being TOO fucking anime. People complain about the ending bits of 7R but Roche was already excessive. The side quests aren't designed well, fleshed out at all, and the areas for side quests are bland as fuck in both level design and visual design. They are also filled with slow walk/movement shit like tiny spaces to squeeze through or monkey bars, and some other dumb "puzzles" like the arm cranes for the main story.

I know they need to balance it so you can't spam potions, but I think limiting the number you can use per battle is a more graceful solution than 'run around in circles and kite the enemy until you're allowed to use the items you already have.' Even KH just added a long animation where you're vulnerable while healing. I heard Hard Mode fixes it but I don't know for sure

I first played FFVII in 2015 at the age of 15. The remake's gameplay is fine, and the added character development for the Avalanche members and the expanded Midgar is great. The changes to the story are fucking retarded though, and Nomura should never have been director.

I think I was 8 or 9 years old when I first played it back in the day. Loved it but it took me a while to get through it because my english skills weren't great back then. I've played through the original probably 5 times at least. As for the remake, I think it visually was inconsistent, about half of side quests sucked and the ending section felt like an optional, non-canon hidden boss that you unlock by doing everything in the game. Despite those flaws I really enjoyed my time with it.
