Now that the dust has settled, were time jannies a positive or negative inclusion in the Remake?
Now that the dust has settled, were time jannies a positive or negative inclusion in the Remake?
Neutral
until we dont get clarification on next parts on what the fuck they are exactly and how they manifest, neutral.
If they are weapons, then it could be good.
They were based as fuck and tried to save the train wreck
I dunno I never played the original but they were really jarring for me they didn't feel like they belonged in the plot as everything sort of came to a screeching halt when they showed up.
I didn't really like their inclusion, but I haven't finish it yet, I'm hoping the next part explains what they are exactly.
positive
if it was just a regular remake that changed shit itd be shit like RE2 and 3
It being a sequel makes it a much more interesting game and doesnt null the original stuff
They were included to make people start guessing and building theories for the next entries.
SE probably thought that if it was a 1:1 copy of the original but released in an episodic format, people would lose interest since they would either know what is coming or just play the original to get the full story, and they were probably right.
I think they're neat.
The game is a rollercoaster of quality.
It reaches from meh to really fucking cool at times.
But then they forget to hit the breaks and at the end the entire thing crashes into the ground only for Nomura and Kitase to stand in front of the flames and yell "Hey that was cool, now that we're done here time for the NEW shit"
The ending left me bitter and not excited for any future content, what a gutpunch after an otherwise pretty good experience.
Nomura just can't contain his Kingdom Hearts autism.
genuinely cool concept and its hilarious how many faggots just wanted the exact same thing but shiny.
>Wanting a thing you like with a new finish is somehow an odd concept
>lol why do you want what was advertised?
Negative. If Square wants to make a sequel to 7 then make an actual sequel game to 7. No movies, no handheld prequels, no Devil May Cry clones, no fake remakes. Just make FFVII-2 and keep the Remake series as something that respects the original game instead of trying to "fix" it.
Negative outside of memes.
Why didn't the game just end with the new Jenova fight after escaping
dilate incels
I liked them more after the ending of the game because of the message it sends for the upcoming parts of the game.
What people aren't fully understanding is that they served a purpose to structure a full game experience while being midgar only. The developers and the writers were in a predicament where you are potentially going to have a wet fart ending of a game remaking the regular midgar escape. Its an exciting sequence but not for a full ending to a game.
What the whispers allowed the writers to do was inject mystery gradually throughout the story for both newcomers and original game players to slowly come to realize (noticing when and where they show up in the plot). It works for both parties because it is a meta narrative device rather than strict plot device; you can understand their role with the only a priori knowledge necessary of knowing you are playing a remake of a game. By the end of the game it lets you see a shortened version of what the original end sequence can be in an abstract sense (an apocalyptic struggle and a chunni battle against Sephiroth) but by allowing you to battle and defeat the Whispers, you also defeat the problems with doing such a thing in part 1.
People say the game blew their load or spoiled things, but the good thing about how the whispers storyline went in this game is that it really doesn't matter. They can now totally change things going forward and create a different sequences, especially the complete ending encounter with Sephiroth.
You see that wouldn't be deep and a meta message about the creative geniuses behind this masterpiece breaking free from the shackles of expectations.
Understand that this project is not about reliving a beloved game that affected millions, sharing it with a different, younger generation and maybe polish the things that didn't age so well. No, this is about Nomura, Kitase and their cohorts waving their dicks into everyone's faces because they think they are geniuses who know better. It's not about the fans or the love for the source material, but about those fags at square jacking into each other's mouths and compliments one another on the taste while the fans are standing outside the window staring in disbelief.
I don't hate the idea, but it was poorly executed. With something like this, you need to clearly define their abilities or else it's just a confusing mess.
The fact they can just revive people from the dead is already dangerous plot hole territory.
I like them. They're silly but in a fun way and I'm glad they're doing something different with the story.
They make Yas Forums seethe so positive
In universe: they're a force for good who should have been heeded.
Out of universe: they're the most hackneyed plot device I've seen in decades.
They're positive, no one would give a shit about the next games if they didn't make any changes, it needs something to drag the plot along
The only negative inclusion is that butchered, censored mess in the OP
They weren't particularly bad or good, game's still 9/10 overall.
Neutral. Anyone who says Positive just want to mock the people who'd say Negative.
The fact of the matter is that we know very little about the situation with the time jannies or what the later consequences will be and all we know is that this is AFTER the original game. May as well wait and see what happens, cause it's going to be a long ride whether people like it or not.
Let me be perfectly clear here. The only people being angry are literal zoomers, because they were promised the story, from wiki or other redditors/twitter etc, they heard about so much, like Aerith dying.
But your average zoomer could never play FFVII with its graphics, so they just waited for the remake, and they are angry they can't be part of the group that are fans of FFVII.
There is absolutely no logical reason why would somebody that played the game and saw the whole story 20 years ago, be angry about changes.
I personally dislike the time jannies themselves but I've been enjoying everything else. Weapon enhancement is a good addition and I really enjoy Tifa's playstyle. The chapter where you help Jessie and fight Roche was neat, I like Roche a lot since he's a fun thrillseeker.
maybe because the changes are fucking retarded?
For now, no. I think it might make part 2 better because quite a bit for disc 1 isn't that exciting and time jannies not interesting means we can get more interesting scenarios.
Definitely a positive.
It's one of those new plot devices that really elevated this remake beyond the original. It gives the audience a depth far deeper than what the "classic" game ever could do.
I tried playing the original years ago, but it was just so ugly, dated, and boring. The Remake doing what it did brought this overrated game up to the modern standards of today's video games. What Nomura did here transformed and reinvigorated the dying JRPG genre to heights never before seen. This game will be fondly remembered by the newer fans, while the older problematic fans will froth in indignation over how much better Final Fantasy VII Remake is in comparison to the antiquated FF7 of yesteryear.
The remake is clearly directed at people that played the original, Crisis Core and watched the movie. And i enjoy the story because of that.
Now there's a zero chance that zoomer did any of those, let alone all 3. And watching the ending of Crisis Core on youtube doesn't count.
Right now neutral but with hesitant optimism to regard them as positive. But we'll need to see the full picture to truly see how things play out.
Would be much better if Jessie was alive in this timeline.
the way theyre applied is dumb as fuck. it looks ridiculous. it might be interesting but knowing nomura we're in for more dumbshit. its like japs cant into subtlety at all. why literal ghosts? have characters just blank out.
Positive, I went from having zero interest in yet another nostalgia pandering remake to being somewhat invested in the idea of a sequel.
