Hacked Wii

Hacked Wii

Anyone here hacked a wii? Is it worth the effort? How does it handle gamecube games, do i still need a gc memory card? Will it look like dick on my led tv anyway? I haven't really touched it for years, just dug it out and fancied playing some old games for free

several

definitely

Nintendont (Gamecube game loader) supports emulated GC memory cards on your SD card.
>Will it look like dick on my led tv anyway?
It will if you use the stock composite cables, but component cables aren't too bad.

Wii consoles are worth jack shit these days so if you have one you may as well hack it to see if you can get some value from it.

Literally dug mine out this morning what the fuck and yes everything looks like ass on a modern TV.

Cool thanks dude, i found wii.guide, would you recommend i follow this?

hacking is easy wii.guide/
with USB loader you can pirate gcn and wii games lickety-split

that's because you're using composite cables, you dipshit.

yes it's a good guide

So i should use component cables? Instead of composite?

Thanks dude

absolutely, unless you have a fetish for 240p over 480p.
srsly though component cables are great, they make gamecube games so pretty.

no shit retard

Make sure your wii can play gamecube games. Newer ones can't.

Shit okay, and the stock cables are composite?

Yes. Your resolution practically doubles because of 480p, but you also eliminate a huge number of artefacts.
Some models of Wii have a bug in the video encoder that makes 480p look blurrier than it should - but if you software mod the console you can fix that, too.

You can still use 240p with the component cables IIRC.

Newer ones that lack the native ports can still play Gamecube games with a softmod.

Yes. Composite = Yellow + White/Red for audio. Component = Green/Blue/Red + White/Red for audio.

Yes.

There is no effort and yes. You can do it in minutes.

Get the kind that's white and stands tall. Early Wiis are hardware compatible while later ones, usually colored or horizontal aren't they're missing the hardware ports and have a different DVD drive.

>Will it look like dick on my led tv anyway?
I don't even know it's been such a long time.

Go for it it's one of the best emulation boxes that isn't a PC.

There's also this thing, as TV's are starting to phase out both component and composite.

Man i don't think my tv has all those ports for component

Tips please? How do i do it that quick

Some TVs come with a breakout cable for it like this. Otherwise get a HDMI adaptor like .

It's easy to do and turns the wii into one of the best consoles ever. It's a super gamecube that has official Nintendo released emulators for most classic consoles.

Ahhh this looks easier, now to try find this on a bong website

>Some models of Wii have a bug in the video encoder that makes 480p look blurrier than it should
I don't think my Wii has this problem but is there any way to check?

I just realised, why does this have an aux output? Do you have to use that? Surely it can just work with hdmi alone?

Audio does go through HDMI alone, the AUX port is if you want to plug it into a set of speakers or headphones that your HDMI doesn't output to.

Look at the serial number. If it begins with 01/10/20/30 it has the bug. If it begins with 40/50/60/K01/K02 the bug is fixed.

What exploit I used isn't on there but when I did it all I needed was a Brawl disc and putting a couple of files on the SD card. It's been many years since then I'm sure it got even easier.

Ah cool, I've got my sound system connected to my tv through optical, so I'm good, found pretty much that exact adapter on eBay UK for 5 bongs, so I've just ordered it

Cool I'll get on this tomorrow, looking forward to playing some games

actually not all 40 serial Wiis have it fixed, but that's where the fix started to be implement.

Would this have any affect on input lag? I mostly use my Wii for Smash and some HD TVs are okay while others are just totally fucked.

you can install the homebrew channel in minutes, but for setting up USB Loader GX (which you need for playing pirated games) you have a take some more steps which the wii.guide goes over

It's so worth, I mostly use it to play Project M with Friends or make custom VC Channels. Nintendont handles GameCubes really well and it has the option to create a virtual Memory Card on your USB/SD Card.

Will Nintendont cause any lag?

also, check out Blueroms, better than Vimms Lair for sure

Nintendont hasn't any lag from what I've played so far

Yeah i figured it would take me a little while, need to find a bloody sd card first
