It's good

Reddit literally said it was the most overrated game ever. They hate it now

>buzzword

I am neither of those things and I adored that game. Seriously took me like 2 years to complete.

1.) Released during the beginning of this gen cementing it's place as one of the handful of games for consoles
2.) Baby's first ARPG

Too stupid to read an actual book and too stupid to play an actual game. We need proper gatekeeping, fuck.

you need to go back

Geralt is my favorite soul calibur 6 character
witcher 2 is good

thats about all I know of him

normies make me fucking sick. Just how many upvotes did this thing get i wonder.

Because it takes simplistic, braindead gameplay and hides it behind a passable narrative and pseudo-intellectualism, meaning you can enjoy it while not looking like a retard. You can't do that with TES V: Skyrim, for example. Same reason why Bioshock: Infinite is beloved by the same types, it takes the CoD gameplay and hides it behind a "deep" story.

main character is STD-immune Chad incarnate.

>game is popular literally everywhere except with a small faction on this board that isn't even big enough to dominate their own threads.
>they cope by pretending only reddit likes it.

How are you guys going to cope with people here saying they like Cyberpunk once it's out? The same sun memes?

Are CDPR fanboys the more insecure fanbase in the universe?

Sorry, wrong pic.

This tbqhwy. I enjoyed it for what it was. It wasn't my 10/10 IGN, and I found the side quests more enjoyable than the story. I hope Todd Howard takes a lesson from the sidequest in TW3, but I doubt it. I've put probably 1000hrs into Morrowind-Skyrim, so that's where my level of enjoyment is at.

Every single piece of media I see about this game makes it seem more and more stupid to me. It doesn't seem enjoyable at all.

I enjoyed it also, but that doesn't change why the majority of the fanbase likes it.

I thought Yas Forums liked the Witcher?

>pseudo-intellectualism
Did you even play the game? What the fuck are you talking about?
It released right on time to be in a spotlight. It's a good game that obviously took a lot of effort and passion to make. It's a game that combines the charm of eurojank with AAA production, while being accessible enough for everyone. It also managed to please the majority of bookfags and people who liked the previous games, while improving upon almost everything from previous entries. It might also be the first game where enourmous, openworld map didn't feel shallow as fuck. Good thing that all that GOG money went to a good place.

Yes, but the person on Yas Forums that likes The Witcher isn't the type of person who makes the sort of OC that's on the OP.

It showed tits and vegana. 13 years old love games that show that.

vocal contrarians, as is the case with every game, good or bad, when 'discussing' on Yas Forums

I believe that the reason it's enjoyed is because of the person I quoted, unless that's you. It's simple, yet complicated juuuust enough to make it seem like you're in this deep political intrigue plot. There's a few twists, like the bloody baron shit. It's pretty good looking too, which helps.

Could it be the same people who have a sense of superiority and are quick to remind fans of the tv show Game of Thrones that they've read the books? Mayhaps.

It is objectively the best game ever made. It can only be hated by people who have bad taste in games and those who hate anything that's popular.

Call it perceived pseudo-intellectualism if that makes it easier for you to digest, the point doesn't change. The game's story isn't that deep, and the narrative isn't that tight-knit, but the sort of person described on the OP still gravitates towards the game because it is perceived as "the" adult open-world RPG of the 2010's.

>I believe that the reason it's enjoyed is because of the person I quoted, unless that's you.
It was. And yes, I agree. The Witcher game's story is still one of the better RPG stories out there, and save for The Witcher 2, they all had shit gameplay. It is a shame that CDPR gave up on doing better than western studios and have decided to emulate them instead. But hey, at least we get COOL CELEBRITY CAMEO now.

This
There comes a point when a game is too streamlined. There is not one quest, or one combat segment that requires thinking it all just solves itself.

Keanu-rimming aside, I am mildly excited for 2077. I think TW3 was fine, and I'm looking forward to see what they'll do with a cyberpunk game in 2019+1. Every new game release makes me nervous, and I'm terrified of how bad Bethesda is going to fuck up the next ES game. No pre-orders, as usual, but I'm hoping. Plus, I already bought a few Trauma Team patches from /k/ months ago, so I'm excited to see them in action.

Because redditors think they're way more clever than they actually are, just like this game.

I have learned over the years to try a game that I might have otherwise overlooked due to some bias towards independent games or something similar, and to avoid AAA titles when they become stagnant, so don't be afraid of branching out to find a new game you enjoy, but when you're a fanboy, you're a fanboy.

Bethesda games have always been bad in my view, but at least they have been honest, they make big dumb RPGs and stick by it, going so far as to banish their head TES writer who had different ideas.

>and save for The Witcher 2, they all had shit gameplay.
Witcher 2 has the worst gameplay
>Combat is clunkiest in the series. Geralt rolls around like a moron. Can't drink potions during battle. Traps are pointless.
>Worst character progression system in the series. You are locked into acquiring beginner skills and when it opens up the new skills are ridiculously unbalanced. No reason to go Alchemy beyond the starting health. You get the best skills at the start of each path.
>Difficulty is fucked. The prologue is the hardest part of the game.
>Console-designed inventory system and U.I. that is frustrating to navigate on PC
>awful forced stealth sections
>fist-fighting turned into a QTE

it's fun

Although it might not have been technically sound, you at least had to think a bit during fights. The Witcher 3 had the Batman Arkham one button combat. But I guess that type of combat has its appeal to the kind of person that wants more "accessibility" to their games.

I found rimworld in mid-2018, and absolutely fell in love with it. It ties Arma 3 as my most-played game in steam, so I agree.

And yea, as shit as Bethesda as a dev is, I'm still helplessly fascinated by the lore, always have been since Morrowind. They know what they are, I know what they are, it is what it is.
