Are there any good horror games any more? I'm really tired of every new horror game being "run from enemies and hide"

No. Modern horror games just try to scare you as if that's all they need to be worth anything. There is a problem with this though, because video games are unable to be scary for adults. But kids on the other hand can be scared easily by video games. I wouldn't be surprised if kids are the main audience for most modern horror games. In fact, I bet they're the target audience. Maybe that's why horror games and horror media has become so shitty. No one takes the genre seriously for games or movies because people that make this shit only intend to SCARE, which only works on kids. The only hope for adults being scared by video games is Virtual Reality. But no one is buying the hardware, and hardly anyone is developing horror games for it. With modern horror movies they often tack on some sex appeal to keep adults more interested, for games the equivalent of this would probably be gunplay and what have you. But it isn't good enough. The atmosphere is shit, the story is shit, the music is shit or non-existent, the mechanics are shit, basically they just gloss over what makes a good GAME in an effort to make something purely intended to scare the player. Would help if they would at least do something original with their scares, but I would rather have a game with heavy horror themes that is more focused on communicating some sort of tragic story with good gameplay rather than a walking simulator where something pops out every once in a while to scare you.

Oh no shit. Didn't realize it was originally such an old game. Yes, the remake is good not that I have any basis for comparison. No glitches anyway.

How the fuck did we not get another FEAR after all these years? Certainly it jump scared you a few times, but it would fuck with you in unexpected ways. And when you weren't getting chased by a little girl the action was enjoyable as hell. That's what I'd like to see more of and I never do.

I really hope so. They're moving away from the X-engine and I'm kinda worried about that, even though it's buggy as shit. I'm worried it won't feel like a STALKER game.
