This is the most retarded thing I've seen

How can you agree with this statement? The point of a game is playing it. Do you fags actually believe this? Please enlighten me. (Of course it's a jokerfag posting this)

oh boi it's another twitter screencap thread, my favorite!

this Twitter account literally does not exist you gullible faggot

Some games are pretty much interactive movies so why not? Also, I've long stopped playing DOTA but I still enjoy watching internationals.

I dunno. I've never watched nor felt the desire to watch a playthrough of a game, but if someone were to watch a playthrough and enjoyed the subsequent potential franchise I don't see the issue with them calling their self a fan.

Well you can be a fan of anything. I identify as a fan of various bands and ive never bought a single one of their albums or digital shit.

When it comes to video games i would say yes, you can be a "fan" of a game without playing it. But your opinion is automatically 70% less valid if you talk about the gameplay

It did it was deleted

Sorry I misclicked, meant to post an anime girl with big boobs

this, /thread.

People like a game just for its cutscenes even thou it has bad gameplay.

>You have to play it thou!

>NOOOOO YOU CANT JUST STOP ME FROM GATEKEEPING A RETARDED HOBBY
>NOT THE HECKIRINO GAMEIDINO

I tought fan meant fanatic.
Why would you wanna be one?

Fuck smashfags

Cringe

People like this need to be curbstomped. You don't like the game, it just autistically fits into whatever delusional fantasy/philosophy you live by and the experience was filtered by whatever eceleb fag that played the game for you.

NOOOOOO THEY CAN'T ENJOY MY STORY BASED GAME WITHOUT PLAYING IT, THAT'S ILLEGAL

to be fair, at least with Persona 5 the actual experience of watching it is 95% the same as playing it

Most JRPGs aren't about gameplay at all.

>my second favourite game is a game I havent played teehee

>I'm a fan of hotdogs because I watched someone else eat one
Based anime retard.

Personaniggers deserve the rope

Why the fuck you keep posting this bitch

It's more like "I like this painting that I've never seen in person but saw a photo of"

>>>>>>>>>food analogy
Americano please

i only coom to touhou girls without playing the game, and i claimed myself as touhou fan

I played the original FF7 and watched a play through of the remake. I liked both.

YAY IT'S THIS SCREENCAP AGAIN

I CAN'T WAIT TO PRETEND I'M OFFENDED BY SOMEONE BEING RETARDED ON TWITTER

anyone who puts P5 anywhere near their favourites is a retard who should be disregarded in the first place

If you do not have the money to buy a game, or the internet connection to play it if it's online, but you watch several videos on it (preferably longplays without commentary) and you know as much about it as your average player, would you consider yourself a fan?

video games are an interactive medium, not one of passive observation you fucking retard

>datdiscordboy
What a terrible username

Basically the same as 95% of the fanbase. I know an autistic retard who goes around in an unwashed Cirno outfit to anime cons and never played the games

>not listening to the music
Definitely a fake fan

50% of persona 5 is passive observation. The more cinematic a game, the less you lose out on by not playing it. Watching Asura's Wrath for example is almost entirely the same as playing it

Can you really be a fan of a movie if you only watched it at home? You didn't get the theater experience. Fucking poser ass movie fans.

That would unironically be preferable to yet another low-IQ Twitter screencap being made for a low-IQ thread.

Not story based games.

JRPGs aren't videogames (alongside moviegames) so it makes sense.

>JRPGs aren't videogames
What

They don't require any reflexes or strategy

Imagine thinking about a handle so people can refer to you and the most relevant thing about yourself you can come up with is "that discord boy", on par with "coca-coladrinker" or "music-listening guy"

Yes they do. Many of them are explicit about playing by their rules or you'll never progress.

The twitter statement is basically "I saw the shawshank redemption reaction video by jinx on youtube yes I'm the biggest fan of it".

The only way someone could think Persona 5 is good is if they didn't experience it first hand with all the tedium.

You can be a FAN of something by just watching it. How the fuck do you think real sports exist? 99% of people watching them can't do the shit the athletes do. So yes you can be a FAN but that's it you are nothing beyond a fan.

>can you be a fan of a game if you've only watched a playthrough of it
yes
>does that make you a gamer
no
>does your opinion matter on the game
no, since watching and actually playing the game are two vastly different experiences

sauce my boss?

Finally someone gets it. You can be a fan of anything you want to be a fan of, but your opinion literally doesn't matter until you've consumed the media. You could, for example, be a fan of the philosophy of 1984, but if you haven't fucking read it, nobody will take your opinion seriously, and nobody should. Similarly, if your favorite game is something you only know of through youtube watches, your opinion is invalid, and nobody should take what you say seriously.

cringe

There's a big difference between being a fan of playing football and being a fan of spectating over it.

If the reaction video was also the entirety of the movie, sure.

>why yes I'm a fan of baseball
>what's the difference between a strike and an out? why do I need to know? I watch the games on the TV that makes me a fan of the sport and you can't tell me otherwise!

>you can't comment on a game's story if you watched every single cutscene and dialog option
So dumb gatekeeping, Yas Forums's favorite sport.

I would argue it's less valid in any other area, too. Something most people don't think about, especially when we're talking RPGs, is the gameplay helps build your investment. A playthrough of Persona 5 means so much less if you're not in the thick of battle with the phantom thieves. You can't get that kind of experience or investment through passive consumption.

Why does your hypthetical user doesn't know the rules of his favorite sport?

You can comment, but if you only know a small portion of the game, your opinion is invalid. There are components of information you factually do not have, and it's made worse when you omit that information in whatever """argument""" you want to make. There is no other form of artistic or entertainment media where this rule doesn't apply.

See you say this, and I had someone, who considered themselves a fan, call me an expert on football because I knew what a cornerback was.

Its just normalfags
Who cares
